The whole defence deserves a massive amount of credit for not only THREE STRAIGHT LEAGUE CLEAN SHEETS but also for having the JOINT-BEST DEFENSIVE RECORD OUTSIDE OF THE TOP THREE, which incredible given our season-long relegation battle.
Locks and Craig get a lot of (imo unfair) stick and even Bonham, well I myself can hold my hands up and say I haven’t been his biggest fan, but our record speaks for itself. And now, with the addition of JCH and the form (yes, form!) of Nichols, we’re creating chances, scoring goals and rising up the table.
Just wanted to create a thread dedicated to our defence because they’ve been a real success story of our on-field performances this season and deserve more acclaim than they sometimes get! UTG.

Think Craig has been excellent since GC took over, with Locks not far behind. If Holmes-Dennis is fit for Saturday - does he come back in ? Personally, I'd keep Kelly at LB and put HD in left midfield - Charlton is going to be his sort of game and he'll give team more balance out on the left. Tough I know on the 11 who played at Scunnie and Gills but we haven't looked that fluent in these 2 games going forward.

We have the joint-best defensive record outside of the top three. You say all they are good for is keeping clean sheets... that is literally their job. "This pizza is only good at being a pizza! Something has to be done!"

A good thread Neil and I’ve questioned the defence a lot but I praise them for turning the corner and more important a manager who has set them up to win games for us

GC has also benefitted from the return to fitness of THD, who looks to be an absolute class act and great signing.

But Locks is sh** and Craig is past it? James Clarke is League 2 at best and THD is a crook whilst Kelly is too young and inexperienced?

To add to my post above..........
Bonham as last night, came for everything and it’s cleer now Locks and Craig and the rest know what he’s coming for. The whole back 5 are in unity.
The free headers from set pieces have stopped as well in the main and I’m sure being an ex defender Cogs has worked on this in training.
Does anyone see how many headers Ogogo wins and how good was Upson last night and in front of the defence?!
To simply praise just the defence is unfair, Upson is doing a good job in front of them and we can’t forget we are playing 4 central midfielders now in front of them and it’s working. Even Rodman can defend.
Praise must go to Locks and Craig though, they have to talk to Upson and listen to Bonham, if we stay up which we will these two have turned the corner and will be a main reason we have improved in 2019

We have looked solid the last few games. Obviously we all have mentioned JCH and his goals, but he has also one a few headers in our own box, when we have been under pressure. Hopefully we can keep it up.
