Crap game but what a strike from Maguire. Reminds me of Cantona's v Liverpool in the 1996 FA Cup final. Maguire can certainly strike a ball. gaschat.co.uk/post/388424

Perhaps (though I doubt it) a player to go for if Sunderland go up. Can't see him wanting to relocate down south though - think that'll be a problem in general for us this summer (Jack Payne etc.).

Danny Mayor would be one of my top targets, but again, would he want to relocate? I think he's on a decent wage too, so I doubt we could get him.

Not complaining, but he wouldn't be my first choice. That said, a creative number 10 type 'luxury player' is the least of our concerns this summer IMO (we already have Sercombe). Plenty of other priority areas - GK, CB, wingers.

I saw a lot of him and he is a class act

I saw a lot of him and he is a class act "He is the best player in the League by a mile. I have said it before, he's the League Two Eden Hazard." - Port Vale's Tom Pope “For me, Danny’s the best player in the league. He’s an exceptional talent and I don’t know why he isn’t playing higher. He should be." - Newport manager Michael Flynn "They are a good side and they are where they are for a reason and in Danny Mayor have the best player in the division for me." - Morecambe manager Jim Bentley

Just the sort of wide left sided player we need.

8000 at wembley!would it not be better to play these finals at more appropriate stadiums?also there seems to be a pattern to Rory's career, starts of somewhere fresh like a train, levels out to be OK then tails off and looses interest.

Quite tricky in the interest of organisation I guess with the final coming only days after the semi’s, Eastleigh were one of the final 4 sides afterall. You’ll always have a lowly attending final as much as you’ll have a very well attended one. I believe I read yesterday the Conference finals are a regular 20k or so event? Given its a Play Off to enter the football league, I wouldn’t want to see the chance of playing at Wembley taken away from your run of the mill Non League players. Even though AFC Fylde are back there again next week for the FA Trophy final.

Depends on the teams. Salford and Fylde are too nothing comes but compare that to us and Grimsby. Imagine if this year’s final was Leyton Orient v Wrexham or something, would’ve been a lot more than 8,000.

Not sure in August the National League can say we'll only have the final at Wembley if an ex league club gets to the final! Although the difference in revenue from our final to yesterday's must be a colossal difference for the NL.

Sorry, I meant the attendance will depend on the teams - two traditional FL clubs like us and Grimsby or two nothing clubs like Salford and Fylde. I bet the VNL LOVED having the likes of us, Luton, Tranmere and whatnot down there. We were "the Manchester United of the Conference", which was an aptly put comparison at the time IMO.

Yesterday was definitely the final. Salford will be disliked by most, every team will want to beat them.
They are bit like Yeovil, very limited fan base with a very low ceiling to hit. Can see them making their way to league 1 unfortunately.
Will be sad times, if we are still lingering our stadium in league 1 being beaten by a club that contributed to a 8k attendance at Wembley.

Losses of £32k a week . Chinese billionaire backer and a few millionaires with some great contacts in football. Striker on £4k a week.

I'm finding the Salford bashing a bit odd. Nobody is criticising the premiership, which consists of corporations, basically 0's on stock markets, the football arm of which is funded by TV revenue from foreign plastic fans. At least Salford fans live in salford . I don't understand Sunderland either, got nearly 40 on new years eve, and 14k less for a play off. Please somebody enlighten me.

Clubs being reincarnated due to billionaires stepping in, for fun, clubs making advances due to money, we're just jealous that we see all that going on around us and we can't even sort a damned scaffold structure to put a screen up.

Probably because Salford are spending at a loss of £3m a year in the fifth tier whilst paying a striker £4k p/w. They are literally buying their way up. Difference with the PL is those teams already have a solid fanbase, traditional league status and can fund their revivals via the TV revenue etc. making than outright operating at a loss. FWIW, I don't like them but from watching the BBC documentary it's clear that the Class of 92, while spending way beyond their means, are trying to implement a structure to the club and progress the community with it rather than just trying to make a quick few hundred million like some foreign PL owners. The only thing I think with Salford is they'll just be another Fleetwood or Crawley - max out their potential in L1 and either stay there (Fleetwood), drop back down (Crawley) or this business model of losing millions of year will ACTUALLY become unsustainable and they'll cease to exist (Gretna). No idea how accurate my comments here are btw, I'm merely speculating.
