Always be a legend in my view, up there with the best in my time following Rovers and just the right man to pull us together. Really wished things had worked out better here for him last season.
Best wishes for next season, although paradoxically I wouldn't want to have him as the opposition manager, still recall Penrice's return with Watford. Tarnished his reputation a bit, at least during the game.

Love DC and what he did for us and despite what others have said his time in League 1 was also good. I would always have given him more time. He took us back to our traditional league and he even turned down Leeds to stay with us. But last season he started to play a bit of politics with the owners and talked himself out of a job which was sad for it all to end so poorly. But if any opposing manager came out with the sayings he did they would get an earful on here but because he’s DC he got away with it, more or less. He didn’t do that at the start with us, he had to earn the right to sound clever and cocky. Perhaps he’d better earn it with Walsall as well before he starts sounding too bl**** clever. A bad start may put him under pressure, I’d have thought a low, more humble profile might work better. wSometimes I just wished he’d concentrated on the football side more. But he’s gone so good luck to Walsall next season but more importantly let’s get behind GC and get a great start. UTG!

“I got too involved with politics at Bristol Rovers. It was two years of broken promises that led to a fallout
“I didn’t want to get involved in politics here. I wanted to know what the budget was and that I could build a team Walsall fans could be proud of."
In the local rag in the midlands today, no surprises; a guy that cared so much for this club, wanted all of the stuff we were led to believe we might be getting. Crying shame, had he been able to stay out of it who knows. I believe GC will see his chances here to do well, and lead to better things for himself, no bad thing. I cant see him being in love with our club no matter how well he does. That can of course work either way.

I hold DC in as high regard as any of my fellow Gasheads, but GC gets us into the Play Offs or does the unthinkable and achieves promotion, he will have leapfrogged DC no problem in the Gas legend table.

And I'm wondering how much those broken promises would gave meant had his 500k strike force been able to find the net? DC is a ledge but we need to move on.

Leapfrog I'm not sure, but certainly gets him on the road to hero status. Did you see Points West, in the car with the reporter. Came across excellently well. He has got my total support now despite my love in with DC.

Got a round of applause twice from the audience for his views on agents and VAR and made a few jokes that went down well too. He’s really starting to grow on me.

About the manager and what he thinks beyond football, music likes etc. It was a few minutes long and he came across as a good bloke. Definitely a determined character, and likeable, which I hadn't picked up before.

Came across very well in the car and on the forum. Loved the bit about turning down a move to our neighbours in 2005.

Any manager who is worth his salt and believes in his own ability (in any trade) will look to move on if the promises made by owners are not fulfilled, DC did and GC sounds as though he believes in his own ability so it remains to be seen.

And if he gets us into the premier division he will leapfrog bert tann. Trouble is none of that has happened yet.
