Did Lines run over your dog and shag your wife or something? Your vendetta against him after all these years is actually quite boring and loses credibility when you jump on every opportunity to slander him. I personally don't know the ins and outs either way, and wish we would all just let it go. Lines was a good player for us, and now he's moved on. Can we just leave it at that? And the person responsible for bringing it back up when his name isn’t being mentioned is Chris Lines himself In a week where by our own standards we have made three unexpected signings - Chris Lines can’t cope with not being talked about or having a dig at our Manager. This being the same manager who kept us up and made these signings. The new players must trust him and all Lines is doing is coming across as even more bitter and twisted than I already thought he was For balance, Lines gives credit to Coughlan in the interview for making us more organised and for identifying opponents weaknesses. He acknowledges that the defensive stability that followed and the signing of JCH combined, saved our season. He also attributes much of their falling out to him not being his type of player. He also acknowledges that he’s not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s a very interesting watch and to be fair to Chris, you can plainly see that he is genuinely gutted at having to leave the club he loves.

CL was a great player for us but he has moved on so should we. Thanks Chris, have a great season and let’s hope GC can do some more business over the next month. UTG! I believe it’s the fact he doesn’t seem to be able to move on that is the issue here & exactly what JB is addressing. He’s certainly not doing himself any favours by going back in on GC at any opportunity. As needless as it is juvenile & petty.

He is not our player any more but I would like to see the club give him a testimonial at some point in the future, the guy played over 300 games for us

Perhaps but people don’t need to bite, although this is a forum.😉 The guy’s been involved with 3 out of our 6 promotions so he’s earned my respect and I won’t make any digs at him. And GC has my complete support for what he has done and is doing. Others can choose differently. Stuff like this happens all the time in football and being the summer I guess it’s the open season for pointless stuff. UTG!

I like Chris and am sad to see him go. I do think his time in league 1 is almost if not already up. I feel it is a shame he left in the way he did.
However Coughlan is now our manager and we need to rally around him and not a former player. Whilst what I’ve seen so far in the interview is certainly interesting, it does feel poor timing for him to be discussing the matter. Dragging it up again is not helpful for anyone.

And what I should have added, you are completely right about CL not doing himself any favours. He is a class player who should now concentrate on NTFC and League 2. The kind of player he is, look after himself and he will have a good few years in League 2 and then a couple in non league if he wants it. UTG!

Northampton player - thread should be moved There is no ‘i” in team Lines and everything had to be about you you you. Rovers were a better team without you in it in the second half of the season. Rovers being in L1 is more important than you playing 500 games. GC has only gone up in my estimation - now toodle off to Northampton and try and turn up for more than 5mins a[ gamebr]br] Just as well that there is no club that relies on you for reports on potential players

if it’s the rumour that I’m thinking of, one of my mates is mates with Geoff 20man and apparently lines told Geoff it was true. Thats just another rumour though lol. Does it involve a certain GK? No

If you look he’s interviewed a lot of Bristol born and bred sport stars, Bobby Reid, Chris Mason,Ollie Clarke etc. This has been lined up for a long time

Even if Coughlan's preference is for 2 dogs in centre mid, there are games or points in a game where you need the artist. Linesy was worth keeping and Coughlan not only screwed up but acted unprofessionally in the media.
We had no one else like Linesy and may not see a player of his technical ability again for sometime to come.
I don't blame Linesy if he feels poorly treated, a lot if fans would agree with him.
That was a good interview, and Linesy certainly gave Coughlan more respect in an hour than Coughlan showed him in 3 months.

Excellent interview. Not sure why all the negative comments on here. They guy presumably agreed to be interviewed, and he answered the questions asked with honesty and good humour. I also think the interviewer was good, and had a nice style with a good range of questions. It is clear that Chris had some personal issues to deal with during the last season and he is honest enough to say it affected his form. We were not in a position to carry anyone and I have no problem that Chris was left out for long periods if that was what the manager thought was best for the team. But I will forever be grateful to Chris for re-joining us in our conference season and helping us back to the league - great to see a Gashead on the pitch playing such an important role. I wish him well at Northampton and would gladly welcome him back to Rovers in some role in the future.

So why isn’t Ollie Clarke - also one of our own - given the same adulation.
Why doesn’t Ollie Clarke whinge when he isn’t picked.
Why does Ollie Clarke always talk about the team and not about himself.
Lines has a beef with the manager. The manager has seen that CL had nothing to bring to the table so offloaded him. That simple really.
Isn’t he a Bristolian as well?

I was a lines fan as I prefer players that can create something but he has gone so we have to move on.
I am reserving judgement though on our manager as although we stayed up (which I'm obviously happy about) it was horrible to watch.
What he says about how he wants to play sounds good but let's see what actually happens come August.
