There was me thinking this was a forum. Mr Banana has an opinion on Linesy which he is entitled to and he justifies it. Why criticise?
IMO I am happy with Linesy being released, did not appear the same player last season, even before GC was manager. Am grateful for his excellent contributions to BRFC over the years, but he does not fit into our manager's plan for next season and therefore needs to move on, that is football.

His opinion on it was fine first time around. Then it became an incessant repetitive drone for over 10 years on and off. That's why I criticise.

Interesting interview. Some good questions asked.
Whilst 500 appearances is a massive achivement which he should be rightly proud of, he did appear to be quite fixated on it.
It's a shame he didn't get a little bit more of a send off in the end but the final appearance off the bench was something.

I'm not using this as an example of a dominant performance, but did you see his pass v Bradford? Do you not agree we were missing that kind of passing at times last season? We missed his passing ability every time he wasn’t in the side since he came back. Simply because we haven’t had a player of that ability to replace him. With a player like lines in your side in the lower leagues you have to have a ball winner alongside him and he will create , see back to back promotions , great long passes to bodin Taylor Harris montano Brown leadbitter etc getting things going quickly from midfield to attack in a controlled accurate way. Not a big lump of an aimless ball to a target man. I always said If your not playing with wingers or over lapping fullbacks then don’t bother playing him. I think the reason he was left out after Christmas was because we had no decent regular wingers available Cogs knew he was going central and there wasn’t a place for lines. Fair enough, when we had the likes of bodin , montano , Brown leadbitter charging down the lines he was fantastic, because he can find a wide man making a run. That’s all there is to it in my opinion. If his new club stretch the play he’ll be good if they play central like we did back end of last season then they’ve wasted their money. You could say the same about paul scholes without giggs/beckham,meaning how can you hit superb balls out wide if nobody is there? By the same token although ogogo, sinclair, upson and ollie clarke are not remotely play-makers i am pretty sure their passing would have looked better with decent wide options.

I think coughlan should have rose above it all and handled the 500 appearance stuff better. He basically played it down and even denied the figures. He was perfectly entitled not to select him and not offer him a new deal but didnt come across well when asked about lines in interviews.

Stapletongas, Just an opinion but disagree with most of this. Even if Coughlan's preference is for 2 dogs in centre mid, there are games or points in a game where you need the artist. AGREE WITH THIS BUT LINES WAS NOT THAT PLAYER Linesy was worth keeping TOTALLY DISAGREE.WELL PAST HIS BEST AND WAS HARDLY INFLUENTIAL IN THE FIRST HALF THE SEASON. and Coughlan not only screwed up RUBBISH GC GOT IT RIGHT AND KEPT US UP WHICH WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THE CASE IF DC HAD STAYED. but acted unprofessionally in the media. A BIAS OPINION AS YOU DONT KNOW WHAT LINES WAS LIKE. PERHAPS HE WAS A TROUBLE MAKER. YOU DONT KNOW.EVERY STORY HAS TWO SIDES.
We had no one else like Linesy AGREE.and may not see a player of his technical ability again for sometime to come.MAYBE NOT BUT I THINK YOU WILL BE WRONG AND HAVE FAITH IN GC.
I don't blame Linesy if he feels poorly treated, a lot if fans would agree with him. AGAIN TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY.WE WILL NEVER KNOW BUT WHAT WE DO KNOW IS GC KEPT US UP!!!!!
That was a good interview, and Linesy certainly gave Coughlan more respect in an hour than Coughlan showed him in 3 months.AGREE IT WASNT A BAD INTERVIEW BUT THERE WAS NO NEED FOR IT. ITS OVER CHRIS FORGET IT AND PROVE THGAT YOU ARE STILL CAPABLE OF PERFORMING WELL IN THE DIVISION BELOW!!!

Clearly they aren't massive fans of one another though.

While he couldn’t help the timing and subject matter of the interview I do find it abit strange that Lines is continuing to rubbish Coughlan on twitter (liking people’s negative tweets about him and replying childish emojis).
Yes he might be upset at not getting a new deal, but he was granted his 500th app, Coughlan didn’t have to do that (and wouldn’t have if he was as bad a person as some are making out). Surely CL should be focusing on Northampton and as fans of Rovers we should be focusing on the future.
I wish Lines well for all he’s done for us, I’ll never forget him dropping two divisions and helping us climb back. He is a club legend no doubt about it.
That being said no player is bigger than the club, personal issues or not you can’t afford to carry a player at this level who is continually unavailable or losing form due to personal reasons, especially when in a relegation battle. Coughlan made the call and was proven right by keeping us up when we looked dead and buried.
Best if we thank Chris for his service, both parties move on and the pettiness stops.

Chris doesn't seem to take rejection very well, happened the last time he left the club. Pretty big ego as well from what I have seen of him in the clubs and others that have had contact with him.

Yes, he probably deserved to come on, or start and come off and get a send off for all he did, but the 500th game thing was just something to use, to make the stick to beat Coughlan with a bit bigger
football fans being a bit sensitive and over reacting. Who's have thunk it

There really is no need to shout and if your points are worthwhile, they don’t need emphasising. Btw, clearly in a managerial situation you and I would build different teams. I’m more than happy with my management 👍
