So why isn’t Ollie Clarke - also one of our own - given the same adulation. Why doesn’t Ollie Clarke whinge when he isn’t picked. Why does Ollie Clarke always talk about the team and not about himself. Lines has a beef with the manager. The manager has seen that CL had nothing to bring to the table so offloaded him. That simple really. Isn’t he a Bristolian as well? Is your book any good? Ian, I can confirm the book is pretty good. Both myself and Paul (Roadman) appear as characters in it, although entirely fictional he has in my opinion captured the spirit of us both.
I can see both sides of this argument discussion, and tend to agree it is time to concentrate on the future. We should always look at the goals and performances Chris put in for the Gas but he is now a Cobblers player and beyond looking perhaps at their results move on with the current crop of players.

While he couldn’t help the timing and subject matter of the interview I do find it abit strange that Lines is continuing to rubbish Coughlan on twitter (liking people’s negative tweets about him and replying childish emojis). Yes he might be upset at not getting a new deal, but he was granted his 500th app, Coughlan didn’t have to do that (and wouldn’t have if he was as bad a person as some are making out). Surely CL should be focusing on Northampton and as fans of Rovers we should be focusing on the future. I wish Lines well for all he’s done for us, I’ll never forget him dropping two divisions and helping us climb back. He is a club legend no doubt about it. That being said no player is bigger than the club, personal issues or not you can’t afford to carry a player at this level who is continually unavailable or losing form due to personal reasons, especially when in a relegation battle. Coughlan made the call and was proven right by keeping us up when we looked dead and buried. Best if we thank Chris for his service, both parties move on and the pettiness stops.
Spot on. He needs to clear his head and go again if he wants the move to be a success because it won't be if he keeps obsessing about the past.

He played here for over a decade and left less than 1 month ago.... Are people really surprised that he still has something to say about the way he departed the club??
Come on people, get a grip for goodness sake.
He has every right to air his side of the story and good luck to him. Whether or not you want to listen is entirely up to you. If so, great, if not then don't! But for goodness sake, please don't feel like you have to tell us that you won't be reading what he has to stay!

This thread will go until Christmas. Just my ten pence...I watched him play against Peterborough, one of the very first away games at the start of last season. When the ref blew for full time, he took his boots off and sat down facing the home fans behind one of the goals. Apart from looking totally bolloxed he looked lost and despairing. We had been carved open in that game and our defence and midfield run ragged ! A few have intimated on here that he was different class and I would go along with that, a few will continue to coat him off. Say what you like, he has played his part and most of it was good. UTG.

Why are players the last to know when their best days are over. Sometimes promotion can be a bad career move as the standard improves and some players get left behind. I think this applies to Linesy. What amused me was when CL mentioned the milestones of other players last season but couldn’t remember what Ollie’s and Locks’ were. Yet he threw a wobbly because GC couldn’t remember his. There is some bitterness in the interview and I wouldn’t imagine Keith Curle would be too impressed by it.

Doesn't come across that he's particularly prepared for the move and whilst he wants to 'smash it', doesn't feel he has to prove anything as he's accumulated so many appearances as a pro. I also love how footballers (and I guess everyone to some extent) love to exaggerate their experiences. Swear Sheff Weds gained about 5,000 more supporters every 10 minutes of the interview went by. And they are one of the biggest clubs in Europe apparently...

I watched the interview in full last night;
To me, and this is the same for many of his tweets, Lines does come across rather arrogant and seemed quite miserable during the interview. Clearly he has an influence in the dressing room and I suspect GC thought that might turn negative the longer he was out of the team. Best memory was for Sheff Weds rather than promotions with the team he says he supports???! Sounds like he split from his missus which was affecting him on-the-pitch? I've been there and I had a business to run at the time. These players who were gutted to see DC go seem to forget they were the reason he had to go. You wont see Lines tweeting about the gas now, same as the last time he left in a huff.

Split ups effect people in different ways . Some people immerse themselves in work etc .. some are unable to concentrate to do that . Perhaps Chrissy lines was one of the latter. Utg

The same could be said and aimed at many of us. We really need to move on and get behind our current manager and players and live in the moment. It’s difficult at times and especially when us older posters have seen so many deals fall through but we are where we are and we need to at least reconcile to that

I can understand fans having a negative opinion of a player, however, some of the posts on here are just spewing spite and bile towards Chris Lines.

Totally agree , how fast people forget , lines has been instrumental in our rise up the leagues. Has a wobble this season and all is forgotten, lines is a top player always has been!
