Our Victorian ancestors (the wealthier ones) commonly ate kedgeree for breakfast.... Curried haddock, boiled eggs and rice served cold.... It actually works.... ...curly fries with that sir? This is a question better suited to later this afternoon.... You'll soon get why!

The people of Gloucester Road will oppose just about anything. I would say it needs a Weatherspoons as most of the actual pubs on Glos Rd are pretty terrible with possibly the Sportsman (which isn’t on Glos Rd anyway) being the exception. There are some excellent cafes and restaurants but they won’t suffer, because the people that use them won’t want to use the Spoons and won’t want footy fans or the the type of clientele that frequent a spoons in their greenpeace space anyway. It’s opposition for opposing sake really. They all need to get a life. Isn't that the point though for some. They already have a life and worried that livelihood could be affected. It also will disrupt the culture of local businesses along Gloucester Road. I get it. That’s the point though, their livelihood wont be affected. The culture of business is a mixture of independent shops/businesses and national retailers and in the mix of how many people live/work/visit Gloucester Rd then there is plenty of choice for everyone and room for everyone to make a shilling or 3 too. A few of the local businesses isolated themselves from rovers supporters and increased footfall to their very area by being advocates of Horfield Rose and TRASH and derailing our stadium so anything that impeaches on some of the nimbys I am in favour of. What goes around...

Lots of the pubs on that part of the road have gone downhill last few years, hopefully won’t effect any of the good pubs/bars further down.

The Sportsman - while not on Glos rd was for years my local, I grew up just off Lockleaze rd - lived in Knowle of 2 years, 👎😭 Patchway, Filton and for last 4 years Kingswood.Until 3 years ago me and my mates would still meet at the Sportsman for a big TV footy game,or just a few beers. There was a vibe and energy there (and the totty working behind the bar were hot as fook! ) now its dead and always full of student wankers and hippies! And is a shillong fest Only been there 2 times in the last 18 months.

I wish we could get back to the days of water poor keg beer, no food, no females, and definitely no foreigners. What has happened to this country?

Terrible terrible poorly kept and aged beer but another option for visitors to the memorial stadium Ah, the old misconception that Whetherspoons buys out of date beer cheaply. They can buy beer cheaply due to the fact they buy it in really large quantities and therefore keep breweries in business. Often visited by the CAMRA fraternity to assess the quality of their beers, staff trainining appears to be an awful lot better than the early years.
Whetherspoons are what they are, cheap watering holes that often bring in the perceived wrong type of customers. I look forwards to receiving my next batch of £0.50 off a pint vouchers with my new CAMRA card soon, UTG

Also don't look for the ciders on tap, quite a few weatherspoons keep boxed 20L proper local ciders, usually somewhere invisible to the untrained eye.... Always ask before ordering

Don’t think I’ve ever had a good pint of ale or craft beer in a Wetherspoons. Maybe I’ve only been to the bad ones.

That’s exactly what’s happened, and I love how every young person is a ‘leftie’ to people of a certain age no matter their political stance.

Don't even try any more to get a beer on match days in the anchor, if there are more than 4 men together they say its full when clearly they arn't, so bring the spoons on.

Spoons cheap beers can be a little hit and miss... but usually pretty good as far as I'm concerned. Have to ask - is that 50p off a pint voucher going to be spent in the Robert Fitzharding? Been in there a few times. I got the feeling it wasn't tremendously Gas friendly.

Ive got no problem with young people going out having fun drinking there, but as I stated. The sportsman as an example, has changed from what it once was. There was always young un's in there, not problem with that, but its become a very boring, hippy student place now and thats down a good deal to the managerment of the place as well as the amount of students living in the Glos rd area.

The more pubs the merrier I say. Too many closing down as it is, who cares if it's a spoons or not.

Been in there a few times. I got the feeling it wasn't tremendously Gas friendly. Was in there last Thursday evening, as long as you aren't being overtly Gas then there is no real problem. Since my wife passed away I have been in there quite a bit, often after midnight on a Saturday evening for a last couple of beverages

I'm just interested when you have Gas living in one of the sh*t's heartlands. Is it safe to wear your shirt? Can you openly discuss your allegiance to the Gas in a local hostelry without attracting unwelcome attention? I had some business to do in North Street and got hostile looks and a few comments just for wearing a Rovers jacket.
