I doubt it is gas friendly, but It doesn't really matter does it? Not really. I'm just interested when you have Gas living in one of the sh*t's heartlands. Is it safe to wear your shirt? Can you openly discuss your allegiance to the Gas in a local hostelry without attracting unwelcome attention? I had some business to do in North Street and got hostile looks and a few comments just for wearing a Rovers jacket. My local is the Cross Hands in Bedminster Down, just as much Gas as City. Also drink in the 3 Lions, Miners Arms, Jolly Colliers etc. Loads of Gas, South of the river.

I was told in no uncertain terms that if I went in their in my quarters they'd kill me. I laughed and said that was just silly. But they weren't laughing. Anyway - I hope/trust what you say is true. And people north and south of the river (of either persuasion) aren't in any danger for having the temerity of wearing the 'wrong' colour shirt.

Well i'd probably stop at wearing a Rovers shirt in the 3 Lions, yeah, but it'd be the same the other way round. Plenty of Rovers fans, myself included drink in the 3 Lions and Bedminster in general.

Gastafari speaks the truth, lots of known gas heads drink in the 3 lions, including myself.. Not been in there so much last 2 years but that's just not going into pubs that often these days anyway.. Don't go wearing rovers clobber in there though. Whatever you do 😂

Have to say I do like Bedminster. It's proper Bristol. Gentrification might put an end to all that though. Southville / Lower Clifton LOL.

Whatever you do 😂 My neighbour moved out recently, he was astounded when I told him there was three season ticket holders and two casual supporters in our road alone.
For many years the "Robins" was my late father-in-laws local; I wasn't the only Gashead in there either. I am not a local even though I have lived there for 25 years, borne in Pilning - made in the "Army" (to paraphrase a recruiting campaign for the Senior Service). I tend to drink in The Hen & Chicken, Luckwell, Coronation as well as the Robert Fitzharding.
For Gas home games I can be found in the Annexe on a Saturday and the Drapers on a Tuesday pre-match, and the clubhouse after games.

The Coronation on Dean Lane is a great little pub. Dry Blackthorn £2.05 a pint last time I was there I think. Was told to avoid the Tap & Barrel...

Lived in Bedminster for about 6 years now. Drink in all the pubs mentioned, plus the Coopers and the Assembly. Never had any trouble when people find out I'm a Gashead and the only time I've felt unsafe was in the Lions. Wouldn't fancy my chances walking in there with the quarters on.
I often go running with my Rovers shirt on and get the usual heckels but its all in good fun. Usually get chatting to Teds in the gym when I wear my Rovers shirt too.
Hate to say it but 99.9% of them are normal football fans you can have a normal conversation with. Its the 0.1% you have to watch out for!

Agreed..its because its full of lefties/students.. The Sportsman - while not on Glos rd was for years my local, I grew up just off Lockleaze rd - lived in Knowle of 2 years, 👎😠Patchway, Filton and for last 4 years Kingswood.Until 3 years ago me and my mates would still meet at the Sportsman for a big TV footy game,or just a few beers. There was a vibe and energy there (and the totty working behind the bar were hot as fook! ) now its dead and always full of student wankers and hippies! And is a shillong fest Only been there 2 times in the last 18 months. Love a good ol’ blame the lefties & students post Absolutely. I, for one, am perfectly happy to wait for ten minutes, while they pay for their vegetarian cheese and quinoa flavoured crisps with their credit card.

Talking of pubs south of the river, a couple of weeks ago I went in the Black Castle on St Philips Causeway. It was the first time I've ever been there, but it looked so nice from the outside, I thought I'd venture inside.
What a dump! What a waste of a great building. At least Wetherspoons know how to do a really good job of putting a pub in an historic building, unlike Greene King, who seem to want to turn pubs into Harvester-type places.

The Annexe is the place to go, at least six real ales with CAMRA discount available. Good crowd in there on a Saturday lunchtime and away fan friendly
