Sounds a bit more promising but we were supposed to be close to making a couple of marquee signings a few weeks back so lets wait and see.
We need another centre back because Menayese is nowhere near L1 standard and Kilgour's not ready to play more than the odd game here or there. Still looks very raw. If Craig or Davies were out for a prolonged spell we'd be in trouble and there may be times we want to play a back 3. We also lack pace in that area so someone a bit quicker would be useful. Hopefully Scales is that man.
I'd personally like to see another centre midfielder as well. We've let Lines and Sinclair go and haven't replaced them. A quality creative attacking midfielder with a bit of pace could make a big difference. Would have liked to see Jack Payne but I see he's signed for Lincoln.
A winger with pace would also be good. Whether Bennett stays or goes we lack options as neither Matthews or Mensah are good enough; the former out for a lengthy spell anyway. How much would Bradford want for Scannell?
If I was being greedy I'd say we could do with a striker as well because despite making over 30 appearances each last season the goal return from Nichols and Reilly simply wasn't good enough and Tyler Smith didn't do much better at Doncaster, failing to find the net once in 13 appearances after his debut.
However, I'm not expecting more than 2 or 3 new signings. Hopefully they improve on what we already have not just add to the numbers.

Gareth Bale is set to leave Madrid, and he's never proven he can do it at league one level, so he has a lot to prove. GC did say he was going to make a marquee signing before the end of the window, maybe this is who he was talking about.

I just realised something. We keep pursuing Alex Jakubiak despite having 4 strikers already. Reilly and Nichols don't seem to be leaving...what if Coughlan sees Jakubiak as his JCH replacement??

I think it's more he sees a projectory with the Jak. He previously said that Jakubiak reminded him of Britt Assombalonga. Many on here are quick remind us of his modest contribution but GC got that impression from training with him day in and day out. I'd suggest that means hes well informed to make a decision. I think he also see Jaubiak as able to function as winger. I would really like this one done but have an inkling its passed us by.

That may be true, but they'll need to put him in the rack for a bit

Any good, do you know him? Similar signing to our Smith perhaps. Wycombe probably shopping in a place similar to us!😉 UTG! 21-year-old who impressed on loan at Accrington last season with 3 goals and 5 assists from 15 apps. Scored on his Championship debut for QPR and again on his international debut for Northern Ireland. Can play through the middle or in a wider role. I think he'll do well. Soon to join Paul Smyth at Wycombe on a permanent deal from QPR is a player I would have liked us to try and sign is David Wheeler

Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen joins Rotherham United on season-long loan deal. Quality signing.

I have been away for a few days - What has happened to the Liam Scales signing is he or isn't he coming. The UCD manager for some seems to think he is on his way to us , if so what is the hold up up at our end.

Mathews Mensah and Menayese, I suspect their wages added together might add up to one decent signing, on the other hand I suspect we could do better with Nichols wages if it was him, but it wont be, the only place that will take him is probably Exeter or Yeovil, but can they afford him?

I don't see either Nichols nor Reilly leaving. I really wouldn't be shocked to see JCH leave for a relatively big fee (1 million ish) and for us to just sign Jakubiak as a replacement. Although, thinking about it now I'm a little worried Coughlan may see him as our main target to use on the wing

If that is the case, shows GC cant attract players - Jakubiak failed to impress really, never showed like he wanted to be starting every game.

If that is the case, and people actually believe that to be true, shouldn't we all be asking Wael, what he is doing owning the club he cant afford?

He's owning something he could afford to buy, that no one else wanted at the price offered Now no one else wants it, so until someone does, it will be run down until debts exceed assets. 6000-8000 turning up every other week, with no outside cash gifts, no longer sustains a decent football club. It's the way of the world. There's no turning the clock back now, I don't get why some on here think it's so complicated.

Were losing £3,000,000 a season so were facing significant cutbacks imo. But if we fill every minute of the new advertising on the big scoreboard we'll make £275,000 per season that has just come out of nowhere as the screen itself was allegedly sponsored. Things are being done to make us more commercially viable so we don't need to cut back as much, albeit slowly.
