Meanwhile ex Rovers loanee Dom Telford becomes the latest player to leave Bury as he joins former manager Ryan Lowe at Plymouth. Bury will be fielding a team of trialists and youth players for their first game of the season at this rate.

I try to be positive to most things to do with the club, owners, players until they do us wrong but think Ranger has too much baggage for us to even think about him, it’s not a case of one and done with him, it’s a recurring theme so I’d be surprised if we spaffed money on him in any way tbh

Considering his previous, that's fair enough and I respect your opinion, but I do genuinely believe he wants to turn his life around. Problem is he's said that every time that he's had a new club. How many last chances, has he had already. Would be a big risk. A big risk, but not so big if it was on a month to month deal with break clauses inserted. Get him out coaching in his spare time and eventually talking to kids to help them avoid the mistakes he's made. As the article I posted says... "If Nile Ranger is to open an academy, there won’t be a better player to tell the next generation of talent about how to avoid the problems caused by being thrust into the limelight at such a young age. He can still be a force for good." versus.uk.com/2018/10/nile-ranger-wants-open-football-academy-proof-hes-turned-life-around/

I expect some club, somewhere will gamble and give him a minimum of a one year deal. If he would accept a pay as you play, or a short term deal, it would be worth considering. If he does do well, he can walk away and sign for more money, elsewhere then though.

He's demonstrated time and time again he can't regulate himself in a professional football environment. Sadly he'll never fulfil the footballing potential he once had and we shouldn't even think about going there.

How many incomings do you: 1. Think we need 2. Think we'll get For me, I think what we'll get is Scales and a winger. But despite us having 4 I want another striker too, probably let Reilly go. That won't happen though unfortunately imo. I wouldn't be gutted if we kept Reilly. After all he did show from 2016-17 to 2017-18 that he can improve massively on the goal scoring front, scoring 2 goals (1 every 14 games in all competitions) and then improving that tally to 22 goals the following season (one goal every 2 games in all competitions), albeit with different teams. I'd let Nicholls go before Reilly. Riley has scored more in a few games than Nichols has in 2 seasons (2)

Not sure why we keep touting Nile Rangers name about , I for one would stop watching the Gas I am very proud to be a Gashead and would struggle to admit to it if he played for us ! I believe people deserve a second chance in life but to bombed out by four clubs , well to me that is saying something it’s self ! His body language when we played Southend was awful not even talking to his own teammates ! We don’t know what other players feel about him they might not even want to play in the same team ? I for one would love the club to sign a striker but not that desperate for them to sign Nile Ranger I would rather wait !
Never started a poll on here but if someone could do one on wether to sign Nile Ranger or in fact Ched Evans ( not my cup of tea either ) I would love to see the outcome ?

Not ITK and am always surprised by lots of stuff at Rovers but we got rid of Payne before him using up a place in pre season matches and taking any training time. Players not in GCs plans wouldn’t have gone to Ireland so it may be that what we’ve got will stay and GC will play differently with better FBs and more pace in the team. Perhaps we’ll get the ball into the box more and quicker and give Reilly and Tom N more opportunities. UTG!

He must have some sh**e in that squad if he's making triple signings more than 3 weeks before the start of the season.

From what I saw JCH was half the player when Nichols wasn't beside him. JCH, Smith and whoever we bring in could all benefit significantly from having Nichols next to them

Hoping we will get a quality striker, winger, attacking midfielder and a centre back, because I think we need them, but I doubt we will. As for Reilly, I'd look to move him on if possible. You say he scored 22 goals the previous season to us signing him, but only 11 league goals and the others included 4 against non-league Lothian Thistle, 2 against Hearts' U20 team and a further 4 against 3rd tier sides. Only 5 league goals in 50 games for 15/16 and 16/17 seasons. I agree on all of those, I missed out an attacking midfielder. You seem to have a shortlist of players you want for Rovers. Do you have shortlists for each of those key positions? So say a shortlist of players you deem would be quality strikers and would be realistic? Whilst I get your point. Taking league games on their own he did improve from 1 in 22 to 11 in 35 I believe. That's still a considerable improvement. Also, i don't think it's wise that we simply discount goals against lower league opposition (minus the Hearts' team). This season would be the 6th consecutive season we have lost in a cup competition to an opponent we would have been assumed to beat (Bath, Chesham, Barrow, Notts County and Barnet). Someone with experience in goalscoring in Cup competitions may prove useful to prevent another embarrassing defeat. Could also help boost prize money if he takes us through to the next round.
