We had no creativity with Lines either. I think Lines is overrated and became better and better the longer he wasn't playing. Much more detrimental to our creativity in midfield was Sercombe's loss of form. Has Sercombe ever been creative? Good attacking, goal scoring midfielder but never particularly creative IMO. Fair point- not regularly creative in the defence-splitting pass way I suppose, but trying to create goals by charging forward then passing it to a goalscorer. Or Tom Nicholls.

Don’t shoot the messenger, just heard a certain ‘Ranger’ is on his way in!
Makes sense as didn’t GC work with him at Southend?

I dunno, he did a pretty decent one-two here..

Maybe im crazy or naive (or both), but I'd be willing to give Ranger another chance on a month to month deal with break clauses inserted. I listened to his True Geordie Podcast interview and I think the penny has finally dropped with him and he realises there will be no more chances in the football world if he f**ks up again. But Cogs will know better than me having worked with him before and I would trust his judgement either way. versus.uk.com/2018/10/nile-ranger-wants-open-football-academy-proof-hes-turned-life-around/

I wanna know what’s happened to this supposed striker signing because surely it would be announced by now if leahy only knew of interest on Sunday night. It either fell through or he has an issue getting to Dublin right now?

Lots of new playerchatter towards the back end of last week , boys looking lively in the first friendly and now the guys are off to Ireland 🇮🇪 for the next stage of pre season. Hoping for big news this week and with it being my birthday on Thursday the announcement of new faces would make for a great present. If all has gone to plan behind the scenes I’m expecting one maybe two this week. UTG! Done ... and it’s only Wednesday !

Salford looking to have a good go at promotion again this season.
Bolton Wanderers captain David Wheater is to hold talks with Salford City today and looks set to sign for the Ammies.Â
The experienced campaigner has been with Bolton for eight and a half years and has made two hundred and thirty-eight appearances for the Trotters since his £2.3 million move.

*THIS!*
Have to say, he is a good goal scoring midfielder, but creative? No.

How many incomings do you: 1. Think we need 2. Think we'll get For me, I think what we'll get is Scales and a winger. But despite us having 4 I want another striker too, probably let Reilly go. That won't happen though unfortunately imo. I wouldn't be gutted if we kept Reilly. After all he did show from 2016-17 to 2017-18 that he can improve massively on the goal scoring front, scoring 2 goals (1 every 14 games in all competitions) and then improving that tally to 22 goals the following season (one goal every 2 games in all competitions), albeit with different teams.

Hoping we will get a quality striker, winger, attacking midfielder and a centre back, because I think we need them, but I doubt we will. As for Reilly, I'd look to move him on if possible. You say he scored 22 goals the previous season to us signing him, but only 11 league goals and the others included 4 against non-league Lothian Thistle, 2 against Hearts' U20 team and a further 4 against 3rd tier sides. Only 5 league goals in 50 games for 15/16 and 16/17 seasons.

Purely because of his long and illustrious record for being a Banned word I would struggle to call myself a Rovers supporter while he was at the club.

Considering his previous, that's fair enough and I respect your opinion, but I do genuinely believe he wants to turn his life around.

Perhaps another winger if Mensah/Bennett or another play frees up some wages. We Released 10 players and have brought in 7. So surely we have more on the wage bill to play with?! And we have signed Hare/Van stappershoef/And a loanee. So we surely have at least more in the bag to get a couple more. I will be furious if not! UTG

He should have the right to do so, but I’d rather see him do it by coaching kids in the wind and rain up on the downs and doing it for free rather than continuing to have a pretty privileged life on our dime.

How many last chances, has he had already. Would be a big risk.

Ideally I think we need 1 x CB, 1 x winger and 1 x creative midfielder. I think we’ll probably get the CB (Scales) and winger, but not the midfielder. Having said that, what we need all depends on the system GC will be going with really.
