Anybody else mildly confident we will be a team that will be hard to beat? And who knows...

Anybody else mildly confident we will be a team that will be hard to beat? And who knows... Well, we were a team that was hard(er) to beat under GC last season tbf. But we were also painfully dull to watch, and scored a pitiful amount of goals!

I was up there with anybody who thought DC was a god....GC had no choice to grind results no matter how. Surely the view has to be seen after the start of the fresh season, new faces, some of the older ones refreshed (thinking Sercs, Rodman and Bennett) and who knows, a good start and see what happens. I know I will be moaning with a few near losses and bore draws, but I am not expecting that.

I'm feeling very pessimistic. Not going to change unless we either bring some good attacking players or we start well with what we have and continue to do so. Preferably I want both.

Today's latest interview by GC doesn't sound too promising recruitment wise: “I know what I want, I know the divisions, I know the players. I know what is needed and I know what I want, getting them is a different problem. Now you have got all types of different variables in there, you might have a handshake with a player and then an agent gets involved and people price themselves out of the market. “I have always said I will pay the going rate, I will pay what they are worth. An honest day’s graft is worth an honest day’s pay but I am not going to pay over the odds and I am not going to go shelling out loads and loads of money on players who are big names, and whose reputation precedes them. I will give it to them if they deserve it and at this moment in time. I am struggling with that"It sounds like we won't be signing anybody unless players drop their wage demands as we approach transfer deadline day? www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/graham-coughlan-still-looking-add-3131179

Another very disappointing and underwhelming summer of recruitment in my eyes. I don't really blame Coughlan, it's obvious that his hands are tied. It's the Al Qadi family that are holding us back.

By irresponsibly spending money we don't have? By failing so far to provide the stadium and training ground and failing to provide the creative and attacking signings that we so obviously and desperately need.

I think most of our new folks have been players out of contract etc, so I am optimistic that there may be a rabbit pulled out of the hat soon by GC, obviously depends on JCH staying and not being sold , so either a creative midfielder or a striker that will may have to splash out a few quid on, I personally, would prefer a seasoned creative midfielder with some championship experience, may be too much to wish for with our wage restraints but here’s hoping!

Obviously the stadium and training ground situations are a frustration but these things take time. In terms of signing creative and attacking players, that's surely under GC's remit? I don't disagree they are needed but think it's very harsh to see WAQ and co as the problem in that equation.

I don’t think JCH will go, under contract and I don’t see why he’d have a release clause as he wasn’t exactly hot property when he signed for us. Also there’s the questions over his fitness which will put clubs off.
I’m confident GC can bring in a couple more players where needed, whether it’s loans or permanent.

In truth, do we not looking stronger in defence with some good options and no lacking threat going forward. With Ollie becoming capt, Sercs sizzling, Rodman and Bennett hungry and fit, surely we have some payers that will create, and I think we do have 2 or 3 decent forward options, assuming Nicholls does come to the table in some way this season. My biggest fear is the depth of the squad, but if this allows a couple of the very promising development guys in, that's always been the Rovers way and a big plus from me.
There I go again, trying to look forward to the season. Yes I love and breathe the club and want it all; the current owners probably wont deliver the dream, but which ones ever have and aside from the odd manager pulling rabbits out of the hat for minor moments of success...…..but it does mean we enjoy those special times all the more.
Of course its not enough, but we play in blue and white quarters, I await my season ticket, stand in a part of the ground that faces the wind, and I get totally wet in the winter, longing for a roof (not a seat). Wish the pastys we had a few seasons ago were back on and await the first goal with relish. I'm just a fan that always hopes for a performance and a win.

I don't believe the ALQ's will be spending 'one penny more' than they have to over the coming months - including salaries/wages, cost employment of players etc whilst they try and sell the club. The frustrations of Couglan are naturally beginning to show - but I'm sure he knew what he was letting himself into.

Very, very good post 👏🏻 I couldn’t agree more with what you say and Surely this is the reason we all love the club and the game, the suspense, the excitement and the hope that this year will be our year.

Let's see how amazing/sh** we are after 5/6 games. I think we'll be middle third, my only question is comfortable middle third or edgy middle third.
