I think Coughlan has shown he has real potential and is clearly a great man manager. Really looking forward to seeing what he can do with a full season at the helm. We will stay up.

As much as I think a midfielder is needed I do also think there could be something in putting Nichols in an attacking midfielder role. We all say he doesn’t score enough but his creativeness at times is the best in the team in my opinion. I think the new Barnsley lad is gonna be a brilliant signing too, you don’t have Chelsea’s youth set up on your cv for being rubbish and I think the fact that Barnsley didn’t want to sell must mean a lot. Get off to a good start and I think we could surprise a few this year. UTG Im sorry but even making that suggestion about TN proves how sh** we are in that department. That fact we are going into a 3rd season "hoping" that Tom will turn good again one way or another is madness and a joke.Im a fan of GC and respect his work last season but our problems from last year was goals and we have not adressed that from a midfield standpoint. My gut is telling me that its going to be a long, and very, very boring season of football where we will struggle to stay up once again. So is it down to TN being cr@p or lack of service from midfield?

No such thing as glass half full or glass half empty, just the wrong size glass. Yep just pour it into a smaller glass and everything gets better. UTG Like a lots of teams there are dark horses who come through. Will we ? Luck and injuries could be a very big factor this season (as always) IMO taking each section Goalkeeper :- Excellent championship keeper with sound backup Fullbacks :- Both fullbacks as good as any other team in the division. Inexperienced backup but sound cover Centre halves :- OK but not the best nor worst by far. Inexperienced backup but will play an important part this season I think Midfield :- Some very good midfielders who most other Div 1 clubs would envy. Winners and promotion players here and with other clubs. Plenty of spare players for anywhere across the middle. The question is who plays and where. Sercs has to have a free role IMO as does Bennett (assuming he stays) Strikers :- yes I'm assured we do have some and some very good ones at that. Will JCH be the big saviour again, not for me, will Nichols step up hopefully, will Reilly take a bigger role hopefully, Moore, Smith etc unknown factor. I would point out that the transfer season is still open for a month. I expect more out (on loan?) than in Why is the squad number very late in being released? more movement to come perhaps? top 12 for me then, and that's without the smaller glass. UTG

It’s going to be another squeaky bum season, but that’s why it’s never dull at Rovers.

I'm going top half, with a bit of momentum 9th or 10th. If we can bed in the defence we have something to build on. If JCH can hook up with one of the loans I'm confident of goals - as for the lack of creativity; Clarke, Sercs, Rodman, Bennet, Holmes Dennis, and a couple of very creative full backs......ive defo got a full pint of Thatchers Dry in mine.

I'm probably edging more towards half empty than half full but I'd be happy with anything above 21st and I think we can achive that if important players stay fit.
Sign a quality midfielder or 2 and we should be comfortable in mid table.

Well I think we will finish 14th so not sure what that makes me. Half full I guess?
I think under GC will be be fairly solid and competitive without being spectacular. I don't think we'll get rolled over by anyone but also not amaze.

How about a third full?
I think we have are probably just one or two players away from being a comfortable mid table side. One of those players would have to offer the creativity we are probably lacking at the moment and the other some pace at the back.
Without them, we should still be able to stay up but as it stands I'd predict about 18th/19th. It might be dicey.
My hope for the season is that we play a bit more football on the deck. Good football or winning games doesn't have to be a choice...they can go together. A bit of that combined with the steel that GC has added could result in another decent season, but we just might need that 1 or 2 extra players.

Have said lower mid table, about 15th/16th. With a more creative midfielder added to squad it could be much better. Signing Adeboyejo and Smith up front has given me more confidence. I know they’re not your big name signings but are what we can afford and I have no major problem with that. But HG asked about gut feelings and I’ll say we’ll be ok. My glass is always half full so I’m confident we’ll be ok. Have always thought our FBs will be important and still feel that so hope they do well. Time will tell. And without doubt there is more confidence than at the same time last year, not sure that I was confident we would stay up then. UTG!

Surely you should have two glasses, one you drink from and another full ready to drink from when the other is being refilled. Or was that just me? 🍻
Football wise, I have to be a glass have full, otherwise why bother. I think we are middle third, the amount of goals we score will determine whether we are just going to miss out on a top 10 finish or just scrape over the line.
