It does make you laugh, but I don't think Lansdown is that desperate tbh Surely millions of £'s its worth more than Bristol Sport buying their fruit? It’s certainly at the very very very least “interesting” with regards to all the other shareholders accepting, that Total Produce are seemingly dragging their feet on land that looks subject to compulsory purchase anyway and at the same time they form a partnership with Bristol Rovers rivals. Watch this space I guess. My Understanding is that the land is owned by BCC but Total Produce have a lease on it for the next 3 years. the Offer is to buy up the lease Could be wrong mind

As a fact, no, I have not been told. Like you I would be surprised if there hasn't been ongoing discussions and suspect we are in the typical standoff between two commercial parties. That is pretty much all I do know. Its a ticking clock, with less than 3 years left on their lease the value is going down all the time found on line: The fruit market is currently co-owned by fresh produce suppliers Total Produce, Fresca Group and Arthur David & Company.
no mention of the land being leased

Not wishing to give out false info, I was anal enough to purchase the title deed for this land from the UK land registry. It is unequivocally owned by: WHOLESALE FRUIT CENTRE (BRISTOL) LIMITED (Co. Regn. No. 0815660) of Albert Crescent, St Philips March, Bristol BS2 0YQ. further more, nearly every unit (with a couple of exceptions) on the land is leased to separate companies for 99 years from 1968.
no idea how to attach the registry pdf to this. If someone is able to host the pdf document and then add a link, more than willing to send it to them.

That is the end of that then, lease secured until 2067, time to close this ridiculous thread.

What a ridiculous comment, any commercial property etc sold leasehold will usually have a 99 year lease when purchased, that doesn't mean it can't be sold on again for the right price. The fact someone seems to be in negotiationing to buy the land suggests the lease isn't an issue. I guess this does call into question what HG's been posting about a 3 yr lease?

Now I’m not usually one to indulge in the conspiracy nonsense involving Lansdown, but I must admit that you could start to look at the recent sponsorship/tie-in with City and start to scratch your chin a bit... It does make you laugh, but I don't think Lansdown is that desperate tbh Surely millions of £'s its worth more than Bristol Sport buying their fruit? Worth a lot to Lansdown to frustrate and ultimately tie up in knots Rovers and the Council and I think he could do just that personally with legal challenges.

I never said it was "A fact" only info passed onto me by someone who has had dealings with people involved. maybe i will go back to them to confirm it ! as regards the £58m, that is a figure put out by Total Produce to owners of stalls down at the Market in a letter to them in the summer

Just to add fuel, YTL have just applied for planning permission for the Brabazon hanger at the Filton site for the proposed music venue.
So, I guess the grand plan of music venue / stadium / Turkish barbers and a Chick-Fil-A in St Philips are not going to happen any time soon.
Shame really, love Chick-Fil-A.................

Well I think there were some rumours/conspiracies as to whether our stadium would be used as the arena instead..

One thing that is almost certain, it won't be "our" stadium even if this one ever was built. Perhaps the complications of this deal is why the owners are now talking to another interested party.

I wonder if an American based, British owned company with football connections are involved somewhere ?

That is the end of that then, lease secured until 2067, time to close this ridiculous thread. I guess this does call into question what HG's been posting about a 3 yr lease? Whilst it is unusual in a 99 year lease, it might be that there is a break clause at the time of rent review which the Fruit market has given notice on. Also if the lease was activated in 1968 it is now 51 years in which, from a borrowing perspective, means that it becomes more difficult for companies like Total Produce to raise finance against it. If a new site is available then it would be in their interest to obtain a new 99 year lease from a business and financing perspective. That being said it does seem strange that the Fruit Market is able to give 3 years notice as they are said to have done.
