Something and nothing - I do not think so. Firstly, perhaps I should declare my real self. I am Roy Cowell. supporter since 1947, yes, I may not look 76 ( I hope I don't) but I am, a member of the President's Club since the 1960s and Chairman of the PC during the first few years at the Mem. In which I like to think I played a major part in securing the ownership for BRFC. I stand by my pseudonym because I do know a lot about what has happened to BRFC. I class myself as a friend and supporter of the Dunford family, Denis, Geoff, Sharon and Peter. All of whom, have my greatest respect. I am also a friend and supporter of both of the giants who locked horns, Edward Ware and John Harding who are the subject of this thread. For those who do not know Edward, has been a fantastic supporter, Director, and backer of BRFC since he first became a President's Club member when really just a boy (a long time ago). John Harding has been a major supporter and wise head and confident of Denis and Geoff and Vernon Stokes during the important years when the Football Club re-located from Eastville to Bath and back to Bristol over many years of BRFC history. Why should such giants of BRFC history be involved in such angst? well to me. it is obvious. It takes years to understand the heartbeat of a football Club, and Ed and John are passionate people at the sharp end of our Club, who are currently frustrated because the future of the Club is in the hands of those who do not know the history and maybe do not even care? When this Club becomes the property once again, of those who care for all the right reasons, we will 'have our Club back' I am confident that will be soon. I wanted to comment on this the past few days and I have been warring with myself to do so, but I feel I must. No one is criticising your past efforts Roy, I think we are all very thankful for them and you garner a lot respect from me and other gasheads for doing so. However those halcyon days are over, its being run by a different regime now, and whilst you may not agree with it, as much as you all still want to think and be involved, its over, the Presidents Club and the Supporters Club no longer has the influence and sway it once did and I think some are still having a hard time accepting that. These days, John is no longer at the sharp end, hes a fan with a prawn sarnie box, just like Ed, just like me just like a load of other supporters. And whilst we try and help where we can, because thats where our common interest is, the facts are, you, John, Ed, any of the other ex directors, or whomever who had a previous say in running the club, no longer do. Its the Al'Qadi show now and for the time being. Now they may choose to listen to the PC and SC but if they dont, well lets not be bitter about it. Accept it and move on. So rather than come on here and try and spin this latest flare up it into something it isn't, what the gist of the conversation was actually about was rather than try and undermine the ALQ's ownership, no matter how much you disagree with the way they are running it, dont snipe about people on the forum or to other supporters to cause dissent but to speak directly to the owners and allay your concerns to them. Now what exactly has been happening is that some on here have been sniping, making up rumours to cause instability and there is an obvious ring of people doing it. The unfounded rumours that have been banded about have come from the same people. Not only that, the sad thing about that is they all think they can insult the intelligence of the people that have caught them doing it by flatly denying it was ever them. Even when evidence can be presented. But why? Also, you coming on here gauranteeing a stadium for Bristol Rovers is something you should not do and cannot do alone. Firstly, its not your place to make such a guarantee as there are so many people involved, and you cannot influence and have no influence over it. Secondly, its actually disrespectful of you to come on here, like a knight in shining armour, trying to curry support from the fanbase for a group of people that have largely been against our owners and also making out you are some kind of lynch pin in this. There are many people behind the scenes, working hard annonymously. I am also willing to bet that if it goes wrong and falls through, you wont stand up and be counted on your guarantee, you'll seek to blame other people or give reasons why it wasnt your fault. It was also suggested you not post on here, but clearly that message didnt work its way through, or you didnt know all of the conversation, or you chose not to listen to it, I dont know. But whatever, you cannot resist it for some self promotion, clearly. Now I believe John wanted to speak to me, I didnt arrive until 7:30pm on tuesday when he was involved with Ed, and at half time he was loitering in my air space when I was talking to someone else. But ill be there saturday should he want to.

And obviously not forgetting that said old farts, moaning about anyone under 50 who might suggest the club is being run like a tin pot social club. UTG

When I met with the club back in the summer I was informed that the AQ'S would carry on backing the club provided they can see progress, the new stadium was progressing well and that is how things stand, there have been rumours flying around for ages about takeovers but at the moment it is not happening.

I think I might be the least in the know person around... so this has no weight but I dont see the Wael or the family leaving.
I also think they will at a minimum be part of an ownership that delivers the stadium.
So I'm pretty relaxed.

But nobody else seems to suggest the ALQ's have any direct involvement with the Fruit Market development, so how can anyone connected to them say the new stadium is progressing well? Could an estate agent sell your house without you knowing about it? Exactly. There is no way on this earth the ALQs don’t know exactly which way up is with this deal, who’s involved, at what stage it’s at and what the goal is. Perhaps the ALQs weren’t the instigators of this merger/takeover and the purchase of the land, but that is such a moot point that only the ones with egos are worrying about it. What is important is the they recognise we need a stadium. They cannot build it themselves as well as service the running debt of the club so are looking at ways to minimise their risk and losses without putting the future of the club in bigger danger. We know our losses are growing, but we don’t know how much of the losses DS are prepared to absorb themselves and until we do, everyone needs to stop the mud slinging allowing the club and the respective parties to get it over the line and then see where we are.

Something and nothing - I do not think so. Firstly, perhaps I should declare my real self. When this Club becomes the property once again, of those who care for all the right reasons, we will 'have our Club back'I am confident that will be soon. UTG How sad to consider the Football Club under the supervision of the likes of the Dunford's, Stokes, Redman, Craig, Spencer etc in close cooperation with the Supporters Club and President's Club Committees as a tin pot social club considering the achievements whilst under their control - several play-off finals and promotions and the purchase of a stadium, and most importantly all whilst finances under strict control. And to consider currently languishing near the bottom of the lower divisions, with finances seemingly out of control and equity eroded is somehow better? Then consider me happy to be considered tin pot and an old fart but crucially financially stable.
