Could tell that GC was very upset about some of our idiots attacking his daughter on social media and fair play to him for bringing it out into the public arena. If anyone on here is responsible, why not do the decent thing and apologise to her on the same social media. I agree to abuse the managers daughter on social media is disgraceful, if it is anyone reading this thread then I suggest they right a letter of apology to Gc his daughter and the rest of the family as I suspect this has effected them all. Surely these idiots realise that GC daughter has nothing to do with how the team is managed, if it wasn't for GC we would have been playing league 2 football this season . So had we got relegated it would be ok?

Agreed. Don't think we should rush to accuse City fans for this and a lack of class when we had a large number of fans singing about partying when Matty Taylor dies - on the day we remembered a former player who has just died at a ridiculously young age. Embarrassing. I just find that deplorable, and there are idiots on the FB page glorifying it, and saying that singing that song was their favourite part of the day. Quite right to make it a hostile and intimidating atmosphere for MT, and have a bit of fun with the plastic snakes, but some people went way beyond that. I'm beginning to think that maybe this club is not for me anymore. TT...I don't know you but from the comments you make on this forum I would guess that you are one of the decent people who this club need more than ever. Don't let the small percentage of scum who follow our great club drive you away.

I really like my football, watched rovers with my dad, played for years and then watched rovers again when my legs got tired. But i wish i preferred rugby or hockey because i dont like the cheating players and abusive supporters. I love football but i also despise it.

Whatever your thoughts are on the manager, to bring his family into it is just vile. The bloke is trying to make the fans happy, he’s part of OUR CLUB. These keyboard warriors wouldn’t have the bollocks to say anything to the mans face.

Trouble is of course that the perpetrators can be anonymous. We can't be sure who it was. Have to say that some of the posts on this and the other forum have effectively encouraged and led to this. Criticism is one thing - gratuitous abuse is another. For myself - GC is our manager now & I'll support him and the team he puts out. Call me a happy clapper if you want. I'd call myself a supporter. Please could you report any or all posts on here that have actively encouraged people to send abuse to GCs family and I will see to it that they are banned and I will pass their email addresses on to the club.

I thought the behaviour by Rovers fans to an ex player who made a massive contribution to two promotions was an absolute disgrace. In the time he was with us this guy did more than any other player in getting the club back on track, I hope our club reaches out to him and in private at least makes an apology to him. As for the abuse at our managers daughter, I am absolutely speechless. Nothing wrong with winding him up, booing hissing etc, how can he or anyone expect anything else after what he did, the odious little sh**. However, singing a song about partying when he's dead is so out of order it's off the scale. Never mind it being the day we remembered Junior, it was just wrong, wrong, wrong. The blokes got a wife and two young kids for Gods sake. He's fair game as a footballer, but you have to know where to draw the line.

The abuse of GC’s daughter is totally deplorable. Like many I despise the vitriol dished out by anonymous cowards prepared to hide behind their keyboards. I also was embarrassed by the song about Taylor dying. As a city player he can expect good natured songs but that, for me, was too much. To those saying they aren’t sure about their support it’s even more vital you stay. If not we end up with a smaller support base made up of mindless morons who will damage the club irreparably. There will always be a few who can spoil it - but the ordinary fans must make sure we don’t let them.

I understand the feelings towards Taylor and some people really dislike/hate him because of what happened ... but to sing that on the day of remembering a former player who has sadly passed away seems crass at best! What was the chant. I didn't hear anything? Think this has now been answered by multiple posters.

But i wish i preferred rugby or hockey because i dont like the cheating players and abusive supporters. I love football but i also despise it. Same here, although I don't get to see Rovers 'in the flesh' that often these days. I go to a few Rugby games - locally here in Sussex, very occasionally I'll watch Bath and I was lucky enough to get to Twickenham for the warm up game v Wales recently. I also get to at least a couple of First class Cricket matches a year - Somerset and/or Sussex. The key difference for me is the abuse dished out to officials by footballers - especially it seems to me in the Premiership (although the TV highlights probably make that seem more prevalent in the games than it really is). Perhaps it isn't at the same level in the lower leagues, but the constant niggling and cheating that goes on winds up fans and the abuse by players of officials normalises that type of behaviour - resulting I think in abuse from the stands/terraces that then overspills into areas it should not. In the other sports the respect for the officials is absolute and although the players and supporters are still passionate, it doesn't escalate. I think there is also a more general issue in society in that for many years our educational system, and to a great degree our judicial system, has not punished bad behaviour - therefore there are many that cannot judge when to stop and have no fear of authority or understanding of right from wrong as they have not experienced any consequence of doing wrong throughout their life.

yeah I don’t like the bloke myself but wishing him dead then having a party about it is a bit ott Embarrassing to hear Actually calling him a snake is embarrassing enough, makes us sound like a bunch of sad losers, who really don’t understand the reality of ‘loyalty’ in professional football...and whilst I’m on the subject the Wycombe vendetta is no better. snake is fine wishing him dead is too far

It so wateres me off when people say they r being abused online and then don’t expose people who are? If I were GC I’d get his daughter to screenshot the abuse with peoples usernames and profile pics in it and post it online to embarrass these tossers!

It obviously doesn’t embarrass them to post it in the first instance though. I am up for people needing to register for any form of social media formally. Maybe using passport numbers. I think this would put a stop to it or at least make it easy to track these gutless cowards down.

Really hope those abusing GC's duaghter get identified and banned for life. We don't need fans like that.
Those singing about partying when Taylor's dead also need to take a long hard look in the mirror. That was bang out of order and on a day we were supposed to be remembering Junior, disgraceful.

Not sure why you're so keen to judge her (in two posts now). People should be free to use social media how they like, not how you want them to. They can be as private as they wish, and if they're not it's not their fault, it's the fault of the people abusing them. And if they choose not to pursue the matter, it's their decision, nothing to do with you, no matter how much it wateres you off.
