Good to see him doing well. Charlton Fans' Forum player ratings pretty unanimous after the last match. This one is typical:
Lockyer 9.5 - astonishing how good he was and timed every tackle so well

I don't care..we got Alfie. The fact that we haven't missed Lockyer at all is testament to how good Kilgour is. He really does have potential to play at a really high level.

Lockyer was always going to grow to be too good for this level. He was a great servant for us and I don’t hold it against him at all for wanting to leave and better himself.
The only thing I’m bitter about is that we didn’t get a fee for someone who was one of our best and most consistent players, was a product of our academy, is a senior international, and was probably worth at least a mil or two.

Proper bodies on the line stuff that second one. Don't think Locks blocked anything, looked like he was on the line ready too but that is defending you want to see as a fan.

Relegation fight for Charlton come end of the season see how much they rate him then Oh come on there's no need for that is there! Credit where it is due, and what a great servant for us.

Agree completely. It’s a sign of how good he was when he was with us that he gets little stick for running his contract down knowing we would get nothing for him. And I do find it very bizarre that Matty T plays as large a part in our success, signs a short term contract, with conditions I know, but ensures we get something for him, £300k (?) and some of our fans are happy to make his life a misery. By the way I understand the reason why but I still find it bizarre and looking like double standards. Hey ho, as I’ve said we move on, UTG!

No double standards, it is 100% about where the Snake went. Simple.
Players running down their contracts is another reason lower league clubs will increasingly struggle financially, and why football is broken, but I blame the system and the agents not the individual players.

On a thread some months ago I suggested that to go for free was the only way Locks could get someone to take a chance with him at Championship level. I don't begrudge him that, and if he had gone for a fee last January then I suspect we would have been, say, £250k better off then - but in League 2 now. I'm happy to see him doing really well and getting good comments from the Charlton fans. I'm sure there will be some tough times ahead for him, but I wish him luck and continue to remember the great service he gave us.

Not disagreeing. Sure you’re right. But in one instance we get £300k in another b***** all and who gets stick? As I said it’s a bit bizarre but perhaps not surprising in a two-club town. UTG!

Not "b***** all", we signed Lockyer from Cardiff for nothing and got 7 years of exemplary performances from him, in which time we got promoted twice. Taylor had scored 14 goals that season already which put his market value in the millions yet he walked away for a fraction of that in a back handed deal to our arch rivals. Not really that hard to see who is going to get the stick.

Running his contract down.........TL gave his all for this club, his partnership with Craig last season was vital to remaining in league 1, I am not aware that he missed any games through injury, always gave 100% despite being in a position that with only months remaining on his contract a bad injury could have destroyed him both career wise and financially. Therefore he deserves total admiration for his approach. In contrast Taylor is an utter t*sser who has basically spent the last 3 years taking the p*ss out of Rovers with various social media offerings etc...no double standards, one is a legend the other a complete c*ck!

Agree with all you said about what Tom L did for us. He was great for us and we were great for him. Everything you said about Tom L is true. But he did run his contract down, dress it up as much as you want but that’s what he did. He made a decision about 18 months ago to do what he did, fair play to him you might say. And yes MT is probably what you say he is. My point was I find it bizarre that we got £300k for MT yet TL goes for nothing (b***** all) and MT gets death threats! That is pretty factual. Sorry if you don’t either like it or agree with it but I think it’s pretty accurate. And I’m as p***** off as anyone he signed for the other lot. And beating them 3-1 and taking the three points was the best part of the afternoon! UTG!
