. . . Everybody hates the sh**? I was out with my little girl in Millennium Square earlier today and there were lots of Swansea about, having a drink in the sunshine. I spoke to a fair few and to a man they all shook my hand when I said I was Rovers - they also all said they’d come to the Mem for the last friendly with us and had (quote) “a Dam brilliant laugh”. And again, to a man, said “I Dam hate Bristol City, mind”. 3 of them even walked off singing Goodnight Irene lol

And again, to a man, said “I f**king hate Bristol City, mind”. 3 of them even walked off singing Goodnight Irene lol Sometimes it is better to be hated. The truth is we're cute little Bristol Rovers with a quirky ground and a good set of fans, that is how these teams see us.

Jesus. Who cares
Wish a few more teams disliked us, would mean they see us as more of a threat to them rather than a smaller team in a two team city
This need to be loved more than city does my head in

Last time we played Swansea I remember Gloucester Rd being like Syria, seem to recall a Cafe getting raided for cutlery and Gasheads and Jacks chasing eachother with Bread knives.

I quite enjoy the fact people think we are a nicer club and opposing fans enjoy the match day experience with us regardless of facilities, a lot enjoy the pubs around the ground and the banter with our fans, I’d hate for us to be a Millwall or a City in the respect that people would just dislike us because of the club we support. The likes of City, Swindon and Cardiff know we aren’t that but it’s nice that others see it that way imo but that’s just me 😂

The point I was making was that most of the fans from other teams that I’ve ever spoken to have a healthy respect for us on and off the terraces, but there seems to be a universal dislike for city fans. Is that a bit easier for you to understand?

I wish the Swansea fans were that friendly when we used to play them at the Vetch, always pretty lively in the surrounding roads after the match.

City very unpopular for some reason.

I think we're living in dreamland if we think we're popular. The only clubs who like us are above our level and see is as plucky little underdogs who play in a quaint museum piece of a stadium. Our rival clubs at this level have no love for us at all.
And I also don't think that the Teds are hated by all. Maybe by Cardiff and Swansea because they are localish rivals who compete at their level.
But most Championship and definitely Premier League sides couldn't give a toss about them either way.
For all the millions the Duke has spent, they are nowhere on the radar. The occasional foray towards the playoffs hasn't raised their profile at all, apart from within Bristol and surrounding areas. They're seen as a nothing club in the Championship. They have virtually no national media coverage, and no-one could care less about them, let alone hate them.

I wish the Swansea fans were that friendly when we used to play them at the Vetch, always pretty lively in the surrounding roads after the match. Always had to be on your toes and vigilant when playing them. Certainly was lively on the 2 occasions I was there. The Adrenalin never stopped until back on the train and on our way back. I used to have the HQ of one of the firms I worked for, in Woolwich. Met a fair few Millwall boys and took in some games. They felt exactly the same, really have a rabid hatred of the 82
