I think that what most people are missing is that regardless of how pretty the football seems or whether we seem to be playing poorly and winning - the fact remains that Darrell Clarke has made us a more difficult team to beat. I say that and the fact remains that our defence is all players who were with us last year. Didn't JW also set us out to be hard to beat? The problem with that approach was when JJOT's lost interest/his goals dried up we started losing every match. If we can keep pulling of 1-0's fair play to DC but if we can't then how long will fans play to watch awful football if we slip out of the Play Offs? I'm not sure I'll be rushing to watch my next away game after the Telford performance. As far as DC saying he's not worried about what fans say in the papers or on forums doesn't he appreciate it's these fans who pay his wages, and ultimately decide if he stays or goes? He's starting to sound like Buckle, which is a shame. DC is nothing like Buckle, he's always shown a massive amount of care for the fans and a lot of passion for the club.

Clarke is a decent chap, cries a bit, promises the moon on a stick, and thats where it ends, he has no real football contacts, out of his depth, is unable to attract any decent players, appears to be joined at the hip with the useless stiker that is Matt Taylor, then he promises BRFC supporters that he will get the Gas promoted at the first attempt; seems to me he has set himself up to fail, he is also not helped by Captain Higgs and the sinking ship HMS Box 1. UTG

UTG We're 5th in the conference so hardly "out of his depth" and he's just signed what sound like a promising winger on loan from Fulham.

I know what you are getting at,but is there really anything untrue,at this moment in time,in what he has posted Before the season started there were people pointing out that Clarke had not managed at this level before. Yet, we are currently 4th in the league, and he has pulled a team together with a lower budget than he was originally told would be available. From the radio it sounds like we put up a good fight today, against a team who have Football League status. How does this equate to him being out of his depth?

If he's "out of his depth" what does make Buckle, Ward & McGhee in the past? It seems some fans think there's a magic wand which will deliver us a 20 goal a season striker and immediate promotion back to the FL, all on limited funds due to the Sainsbury's saga.

Of course you don't qualify it with any useful insights into how you come to your amazing conclusions, but you know best eh..... One thing is for sure Mr J, we'll find out your credibilty by this time next week - If NH's tenure is in tatters fair play - you the man, if not your credentials crash down as someone who talks bullshite. UTG Good to see another positive post by PH57, lets get behind the manager and players and believe we can do it, agreed Taylor is not scoring but apart from that he is playing well. You obviously can have your opinion and I'm having mine.

And so another Bristol Rovers forum descends into a poisonous slagging match...

I say that and the fact remains that our defence is all players who were with us last year. He's starting to sound like Buckle, which is a shame. Unfortunately the common denominator in that equation is Rovers fans It's amazing how our fans are so patient with the continuous twaddle they get fed from box 1, yet so impatient with anyone who manages the on field element of the club. Perhaps if the position was reversed and more pressure put on the clear untruths coming from box 1, and let football professionals get on with their job to the best of their ability we'd be in a far better place. While on box 1, I'll remind everyone that Higgs clearly stated in a live Radio Bristol interview that the mythical post relegation root and branch review which he said was concluded in May (although he said in July it was still ongoing but ignore that for a moment) that the only failing and only cause of relegation was the failure to score goals. Oh and the lack of IT expertise on the Board. Here we are in November still not scoring goals, and still have not signed a forward with any record of fitness and scoring at this level. Even the IT position remains vacant though that's not important right now So fans accept Higgs saying the only failing was lack of a scorer and IT skills (and nothing to do with the madness of offering Ward the managers job which he said he didnt want and certainly wouldnt want for the whole season, nor nothing to do with changing managers after the transfer deadline and been and gone) Meanwhile other Conference clubs have paid the wages/ contract structure needed to sign players with good fitness and scoring records. Just ponder on that next time all the anger gets directed at Clarke and Stewart.

I know some aren't fans of him, some might never be, but IF the signings turn out to be improvements i'm liking the way we are looking. Balanta and LDV on two wings, a more effective target man, we have a solid center midfield and hopefully these signings can put in a couple of goals. We know what we get from the keeper, defense and CM, for me they are all good enough, LDV has shown a spark, lets see if what I'll class as the three new signings (includes Balanta) can do. We certainly have more mobility in the side than before.

Although Harrison was still playing as a winger for a lot of them. I appreciate they might not all be any good, if that's what you're driving at but I can't remember us having this many attacking options recently.
