I know it’s about opinions and all, but I am honestly struggling to see how people put Trollope above DC.

I know it’s about opinions and all, but I am honestly struggling to see how people put Trollope above DC. I guess that depends on how much you love the FA Cup. Magical season that was! It's also relative to how much football fans got to during those two periods too.

I know it’s about opinions and all, but I am honestly struggling to see how people put Trollope above DC. Some posters try to pass off controversy disguised as opinion. Example there’s people that will swear blind their favourite flavour crisps are ready salted, just to start a fight. Everyone knows they’re lying.

I know it’s about opinions and all, but I am honestly struggling to see how people put Trollope above DC. People have lots of reasons for liking managers. I did like PT's style - as a former player he had a tough job transitioning to the managerial role and I thought he handled it very well. He consolidated us in Div 1 and I believe had we kept the partnership with LL would have continued to do well. I liked his quiet, thoughtful was of handling things. I didn't dislike DC - and really appreciated his accessibility to the fans - but his potential was limited (I think he dodged a bullet by turning down the Leeds job) whereas had we stuck with PT/LL I feel we could have continued to progress playing good football. By the way, I also like GC very much and is emerging as one very good manager. He inherited a team with a losing habit and has completely turned that around and is bringing on some excellent young players.

1) DC.
He saved our club from going under or at very least becoming another Wrexham,Stockport..etc.
He gave us two promotions back to back and played some incredible attacking football for well over 3 years of his 4/5 seasons here. The guy was the most honest manager I can remember in my time watching the gas even tho he lost the plot come the end as he cared about our club.It breaks my heart seeing him struggle now at Walsall and him going down the leagues.
In fact GC is doing an amazing job here right now but he is the victim of following DC's time here. His win % this last year and where he has us ( with a real chance of the playoffs) is outstanding. Its just the style of play that is not attacking like most of DC's time here.Thats why crowds are way down currently.
2) PT gave me a Victory over the City that took us to a national final.Gave us a victory and promotion at wembley and got us to a FA cup QF.
3) Ollie side was amazing during his time here.

Gotta be Mark McGhee for me, never seen a man treat a full time position with such disregard before, must’ve had balls of steel! You mean for least favourite right ? otherwise you're confusing us thickoes !

David Williams, Malcolm Allison and Ian Holloway for the football.
Gerry Francis, Paul Trollope and DC for the success.
Overall, Francis (first time) gets the number one spot.

To be fair to Rovers1971 his thread has managed to generate some interesting posts with relevance to Rovers.
Far more interesting than some of the stuff posted on here in my view.
Oh my favourite ever manager is Gerry Francis (the first time) by the way.

Gerry Francis. Div3 champions and then established us in the second, 5yrs in the same division and unbeaten by them lot. All while playing at Twerton a non league ground.
DC. Never forget Browners goal and back 2 back promotions and the street party that followed.
Don Megson. Great team, longest unbeaten start to a league season, Smash and grab, a packed Tote End.
PT and LL That playoff win at Lincoln and then Wembley, the FA cup quarter finals

I remember Gerry just about as I was only 10 when we went up but the one who stands out for me as my favourite was Holloway. DC runs him a close second though.
