I would give it to Manse,he would unite us and draw in bigger attendances. No doubt at all about that. Hargreaves alongside him during a bedding in period.

Anyone apart from Holloway. I'd say anyone apart from Cotterill

Very difficult. If we want someone who could come in and essentially pick up with where GC left off, then it’s most likely got to be someone within the club - I.e Hargreaves. Whilst not pretty or fun to watch, the football we’ve played all season has got us to 4th in the league! So IMO, the last thing we need is for someone external to come in, rip it all up & try to put their own stamp on the side at such a delicate time in the season. A manager like Tisdale isn’t going to come here and be happy grinding out turgid wins, IMO he’d want to put his own possession-based ‘philosophy’ into the team and try to get us playing more attractive football. And if that works, it’d be great, but I think there’s more chance of someone like that destabilising things and trying to fix something that isn’t broken. So my vote is for Hargreaves until the end of the season. Agree re Tisdale. Possibly a good long term prospect but suspect he could totally f up a promising position this season. TBH ANY new manager just needs to keep it as it is and if money is available, then they strengthen in positions of weakness / injuries. Look at Luton last season, and Burton several years ago. It's actually pretty much a free hit for any new manager. Won't get into relegation issues and baring a total decline most fans would accept it if we didn't get promotion.

Yeah, it's weird how our league position and our current momentum is making the choice a different one. Usually I'd go for someone like Tisdale, but now it feels like you just want to get an 'up an' at 'em' type manager till the end of the season, on the off chance we can keep it going.

For me, I want someone experienced at this & championship level - they don't have to be experienced as a manager as GC proved thats not always the most important, but they need to know the league well, standards of players and have good contacts.
GC showed the upgrade of contacts from DC, now hopefully its time for the next step again. Someone who isn't afraid to let people go and bring in better value for money players (as GC did)

what to come down on 19 points and 2 defeats to city - no thanks I'd rather we got there and failed, than never got there at all. We only lasted 2 seasons last time, so long ago I was a mascot during one of them. Im retired now. That's a shame. Mascots have such a short career.

I’m sure it will be an internal appointment. We are cost-cutting. Coughlin was an internal appointment and were saved Walsall's fate and lie 4th. Unfortunately on this board people think they better known managers, or the ones that cost more money are better. Coughlin proved that to be tosh

Can’t see Holloway working for this tight arse board,he would end up having a heart attack knowing what they are doing to the club It will be cheapest option available 😤

I'd deffo get Holloway in. Everyone else is going to want to rebuild the squad and lose all the momentum we have. That would be pointless anyway, since we haven't got any money for rebuilding.
Get Holloway, tell him work with what we have, to go gung ho for the rest of the season, and offer him a nice bonus if we reach the playoffs. If we get promoted, then maybe offer him a longer contract.
We're not getting relegated, we are within spitting distance of promotion, and we might not be here again for years.
It's a cunning plan, and faultless so far as I can tell. I might have missed something, of course.

The job has to go with someone with connections to sign players as we can’t afford to let this window go by without a few players to replace jch

Ollie would put at least a 1000 on the gate Saturday and Penrice is available to help him. That would be a dream team but it won't happen, cost too much money We will go for the cheapest option and JCH will not be here in January either.

I just hope that whoever the next manager is, we don't see a repeat of the disgusting abuse that GC was subjected to on this forum, on other social media streams and those imbicile bullies that gather behind the home dugout. Even though he was delivering results which has lifted us to our highest league position for many a year , he wasn't appreciated by a lot of fans. Sure, I meet people I don't necessarily like but I certainly don't shout vile abuse at them or their family. I've no doubt this has been a factor in the "personal reasons" he's alluded to. We're Rovers supporters, we're faithful and true...

So despite Holloway failing the last time he was here, he heads the poll. We really do deserve to suffer don't we.

There are loads of examples of successful managers returning to a club and it all ending in tears. In reality, there are few examples of second-time managers enjoying happy tenures. I can think of unsuccessful second-time managers at Rovers. Holloway may be the exception to this general rule. I don't know. However, he would certainly liven up the place!
