Wasn't Lee Mansell telling us all a few months ago that he had suffered mental health issues, very honest but surely management wouldn't be advisable suffering from that condition. I wouldn't agree with that. I think anyone who has the emotional intelligence to deal with psychological health issues is a better prospect than someone who throws their toys out of the pram when things don't go their way

And people wonder why most don't like to talk about or admit it. I personally would be 100% behind Mansell as manager, the fact he admitted he struggled with mental health after his playing days makes him stronger, not weaker.

Nobody mentioned Chris Hughton? I know, why out of our league but he would get us promoted.

Of course it would be cheap to hire someone who is already available than having to pay compensation to a club. And even cheaper to hire within, like Dunne, Mansell and Hargreaves. But I feel the best manager for us is Paul Hurst. He knows how to work on a very tight budget with Grimsby and Shrewsbury and did very well with them both. Ipswich was a poison chalice for him. Anyone would have struggled with them last season. But not only can he work on a tight budget, he knows how to get players to perform and fight for their shirt. He some how got Stefan Payne to be Shrewsbury's top scorer in that season where Shrewsbury were top 3 all season. I've had my eye on him since the conference, believing he would be a great manager for us. Unfortunately for me, I doubt we will pay compo to Scunthorpe to get him here. The other option I like I doubt would come. John Coleman of Accrington. He's been there for ages and I doubt he will ever leave unless he gets pushed, which I doubt will happen. But he has done wonders there with a tighter than tight budget. Imagine what he could do with our club. Both Paul Hurst and John Coleman would be excellent for us with our budget and they will make every player fight for everything, just what we all like. These are my choices but I know they won't happen. Paul Hurst isn’t a bad shout but if GC got stick for taking us to 4th in League 1 then PH would get even more. Wasn’t popular at Grimsby despite doing a good job, did well at Shrewsbury but failed at Ipswich and is only now picking up at Scunthorpe. Don’t know if he’d come this far south. But as you say probably won’t happen. UTG! Didn't know he wasn't popular at Grimsby but still did very well. He did a very impressive job at Shrewsbury on a shoestring budget. Ipswich was a poison chalice job. Anyone would struggle there last season to be fair to him.

Put the compensation money from GC, straight into the sky rocket (pocket).
Promote Hargreaves to manager (but on a lower salary than GC, obviously), luvvly jubbly Rodney.

First step - cheap option:
Lee Mansell- The 37-year-old has been placed in interim charge of the Pirates. He has worked in their youth set-up since retiring from playing in 2017. The former midfielder spent three seasons at the Memorial Stadium having also had spells at Luton Town, Oxford United and Torquay United in the past.

Paul Tisdale. Only managed two seasons at this level in his whole career, the first ended in relegation and the 2nd sacked at MK Dons in 21st place having lost 8 out of his last 9 games scoring only 1 goal in that time. He does look dapper in his Ted Baker and cravat though.

Can't see it being Mansell or Hargreaves or else one of them would have been in charge tonight. Any one with a decent track record isn't going to risk it. GC got the best out of the current squad, and improving or even maintaining the same would be difficult without £500k in January. So it's Tucker. To look on the bright side, with only 44 games and 3 going down I reckon Rovers only need 12 more points to stay up.

Tommy Widdrington the favourite on Sky bet. Really didn’t see that one coming! Although the odds suggest they really don’t have a clue.

I’d go for someone like Warnock. We’ve got the right players for his style currently. Out of reach but would tick all the boxes for me. I've been thinking about this, would he really be out of reach? I know at first it might seem that way, but Warnock is an old school football man that loves the game and a challenge and started his career managing in the Northern Premier League. He knows ths potential of the club having managed against us at Wembley with 40,000 Gasheads in attendance. He isn't a football snob and once wrote: "It doesn't really bother me which division I manage in – I'm not one to say I have to manage in the Premier League. There are plenty of good clubs outside it. When I left Notts County many years ago I went to Torquay for 17 games. People thought I was mad. Torquay looked like they were going out of the Football League and all the advice I was getting from within the game was that it would be a blemish on my CV. But I took it and I loved it. There were kids on £100 a week running through brick walls for me. It was a reality check. Many managers wouldn't entertain going down a division, but it doesn't bother me. Don't forget, either, that I left Huddersfield having got them promoted to take over at Plymouth, who were then in the bottom division."

Then there is no better option IMO and we should be bashing down his door!

Blimey I’ve just had an amazing idea for our next manager.
Neil Smith, of Bromley.
Young, successful, up and coming & playing fantastic football.
I’d definitely get excited about him taking over tbf.
He also understands the EFL well having played for Gillingham Fulham Reading and Stevenage
