This could go one of two ways so I'm not sure about this. You could be on Match of the Day with punditry like this.

Not a twitterer or whatever users are called. However a quick look at social media shows congratulations coming in from all over the football world for our new Manager. That speaks volumes for me, perhaps our owners may prove to be spot on with this appointment. UTG!

Great appointment. My only slight concern is that Ben will come with his own very unique and attractive style of football and whilst in the summer when he has time to mould his squad that is a clearly a good thing, I do worry that it may not have the same effect midway through a ceiling.. I would have been in favour of keeping things a little more as they were for the rest of the season and then appointing Ben in the summer. BUT, I must reiterate, I do think this will be a very good ling term appointment for the club. A proper football man who will have a very fresh and exciting tactical style. If BG is the high potential coach that it would appear he is, he will know what he has to work with and plan accordingly for the remained of the season. I think wholesale changes to personnel and playing style would be silly considering our position. That said, with the second half of the season now upon us, a change in style may keep us playing well as the opponents only have GCs style noted.....

Feel flat and not excited one bit but I'll wait and see before judging him. But what would have excited you ? The more I ponder on it, the more I like it. We were never going to get an high profile manager so we go with someone with a decent pedigree and who has worked higher up the football leagues. We have kept the other guys on so I’m feeling pretty fine with it now. We had a manager or two with no experience and did ok. I know it’s a different sport but there have been some great guys, in boxing, who never boxed. UTG

I know its about opinions but why are people negative about any appointment and say things like "I am happy to be proved wrong"? That immediately leads me to think they will be the first on here to say "Told you so" if it does go wrong but will just say a one liner like "I am glad to have been proved wrong" or worst still just disappear. I would rather just wait and see with no comment and say "Welcome to our club". It's a forum for discussing all things BRFC Steve. It's a huge appointment and it will generate a mixed reaction I'm sure. I genuinely hope BG goes on to have a successful time at the club and will applaud and welcome him on Boxing Day. I don't agree with you Steve. I think it's shows great courage to say the opposite of most fans at this point What I do dislike are fans that say it was a great appointment and then when things go wrong say the opposite. Well done No 9.

I think it's a positive appointment but obviously there are unknowns and time will tell. I think it was always going to be a first team coach kind of role, working with TW. As for Garner's style of play, he was working under Pulis so we're hardly going to try and play like Barcelona overnight! If he can keep our defensive steel but make it a bit easier on the eye that would be great. Welcome to The Gas Ben and good luck!

Welcome Ben, a different approach I think we may see attractive football. Let's get behind him, thinking a little outside the box well done gas management!

Why? I think it looks good. Seems that he has worked with some amazing experience and hopefully good enough to pick up the best bits. We're talking about someone who's never played the game and has never worked in the lower leagues. Coaches very rarely go on to become good managers/leaders as history has shown time and time again. I struggle with your logic, surely most managers start their careers as coaches, GC was a coach before he became manager and Maher who you favoured in a past post is a coach.

Hope one of them paid for that scarf. Nah, they folded it up and put back in the shop. It a good start, but I was hoping for a Last Supper style interpretative analysis. Wael not holding the scarf you’ll notice . . .

Nah, they folded it up and put back in the shop. Selling used scarves these days huh? It's a disgracel. Look, it's a cutthroat business. That £8.95 might be the difference between keeping and selling Anssi Jaakkola. Also, it will have given the new manager good idea of which way the wind is blowing, financially speaking.
