Might sound off the wall but I would give Pulis a call and ask if he would take temporary charge. He knows the Gas and has worked with Garner. He would probably say no but he might just be willing to help out his old club and friend at a really difficult time.

Whilst I am fully behind BG, it does make you wonder whether he is along the Paul trollope lines of great coach but needs some help in management. Him and Lennie Lawrence were a fantastic team and I imagine Pulis as a DoF to oversee BGs first year or two in management would be perfect. It won't happen though as probably too expensive and not sure TP would accept.
*edited as realised you meant difficult time for BG personally

Good one.

I trust Maher, he’s got a good background in the game, comes across well in interviews and competently took charge of the Peterborough match and got us playing some decent stuff. Not to mention he knows the squad and what Garner wants from it.

Good one. Pulis said recently he turned down Cardiff as he felt he was still good enough to manage a Premiership side, I can't see him dropping below Championship level. I can't see we can really do anything but continue with Mayer in charge until BG returns or decides he needs a long term break to deal with the issues. Just a pity Holloway got a job as he may well have been willing to assist in the short term.

I think it’s a good call and would have been better in the first place if we’d employed an experienced manager with Garner as his number 2 ready to take over in a few years like we did with Lennie / Trolls , Ward/ DC Rather than having a newbie who’s wet behind the ears and no experienced manager material alongside him.

A mentor for Ben would be great, it is a big step from coach to manager and the role throws up all kinds of different challenges, 20/30 individuals all with different personalities, only got to look at us lot on here to highlight that fact!, Pulis would be great but not possible, Trolls and Lenny one of the best pairing we ever had and Lenny was under valued at the time, trying to think of suitable candidate, always liked John Ward as a person , yes i know it ended badly for him but that was on field, off field thought he was very level headed and had the right personality for such a roll, settle down now ,just a thought!!

You are deluded if you think Pulis or anyone with a proven Premier League or even strong championship record will come anywhere near this club with the owners we currently have. In fact the owners wouldn’t spend the money necessary to even turn their heads and nor should we want them to if it only ends up increasing the debt that they secure against the ground. We will remain third rate with embarrassingly bad facilities until the cowardly fantasist Waqi and his disinterested family water off.

Yes, Holloway is the man we should have called. In my opinion as a Gashead of 50 years on the terraces, he is exactly what we needed.

Coward who owns the club? This forum really has gone downhill recently. Ive been saying he’s a coward since he sent Hamer out to face the press and deal with the fall out of his family’s decision to pull out of UWE on 3rd August 2017. He has hardly come out of hiding since as nothing he promised on new stadium, redevelopment, training ground has been delivered or even started. Yet he was happy to be carried down the Gloucester Rd when he first got here and everyone still believed in his fantasies. He’s a coward and this club will never progress whilst he’s here. It amazes me that he still has his fanboys!

There is absolutely no way that Pulis (or Warnock for that matter would consider Rovers. Anybody harbouring such thoughts is totally delusional. This club is far too small and insignificant for them.
Just consider: what on earth would entice either to come to Rovers unless they were managing the visiting team?
