If he can prove his fitness and enthusiasm then it’s a yes from me.
If only to guide the club to safety
Every changing room needs a wise old head, and if he can aid the development of Grant, Liddle, McCormick, Hargreaves then it’s win win.
If abs is out for the season it’s even more important we get in someone with the experience to cover that crucial DCM role. If he’s kept himself fit let’s get him in!

Just checked and he’s ‘only’ just turned 34, so might still have something to offer.

Ledley could bring that experience into midfield that we lack. A player like Josh Grant could learn a huge amount from him. There is also the dressing room where he could build morale. Hes played at the highest of levels and internationally. It would be a similar signing to Wally in 99-00 where his experience and positioning made up for any of the pace that he had lost. Given we have lost Ogogo to injury which is a shame as he was excellent in his first game back, this could be just what we need just to take a bit of the pressure off our young lads. Hes certainly a better player than Upson. Wally was awesome. If he brings half as much as Walters did then well worth it. If at not too much cost then low risk, possible high reward. Just a thought, but any obvious connections with any of our managerial candidates? Some on the other forum have suggested a link between him and Barton via Willie McKay. Don't know him but apparently he has a chequered history.

Apparently looking for a club close to his Cardiff home, training at Newport currently. Thoughts ? When he said he wanted to move to South Wales, I had no idea he meant the Southern Hemisphere one... yeah, played for the Scummers.
Newcastle Jets. As bad as the Sh1!heads that lot.

Who is everyone’s all time favourite Rovers player of those who’ve dropped down the leagues from the top flight?
Ball, Channon, Gould etc were just a bit too early for me. I really enjoyed watching Kenny Hibbitt in the Twerton days.

Great experience, played against Barcelona and Juventus in the Champions League, scored in an Old Firm Derby and then got to the Euros semi final. You have to question why he's played so few games recently though? Terminated his contract with Derby in Jan 2019, 1 appearance for Charlton and then 6 in Australia. I wonder why he never signed for Newport?

An aussie version of a ted would be quite something to behold.

Two players for me who had a big impact at the club after dropping down from the top flight were, Brian Godfrey (Aston Villa) & Don Megson (Sheffield Wednesday) - before many on this forum were born - both still very good players when they came to us.

All of those were before for my time, so it's easily Wally. I recall standing in the pub talking with two City fans who were bemoaning their lack of transfer activity. In the hope we were in the same boat, one turned to me in anticipation of "no one either" asked who we had got that day. "Mark Walters" I replied. Their faces were a picture. 😃

Trying to recall whenever has an old ex international ever signed or played for Rovers and excelled? Welsh?
Just look at the english players Alan Ball, Terry Cooper, Mark Walters, Mick Channon, Bob Wilson

Mark Walters for me, I adored him in the Quarters, and that cracker he scored vs the Ted's at the Mem in 2000 😉👌

Tough experienced midfielder / defender. Exactly the kind of player you need in a relegation scrap. Hopefully he’ll prove his fitness and we can sign him until the summer. UTG

It's a definite yes from me, he could be our Andy Rammell for this season. A calm, experienced head in the middle and a great influence on our younger players.
