Has he still got a good beard? Something we've been missing this season!

Just checked and he’s ‘only’ just turned 34, so might still have something to offer. Cristiano Ronaldo has only just turned 36, and I think he'd do okay for us ;-)

Trying to recall whenever has an old ex international ever signed or played for Rovers and excelled? Welsh? Just look at the english players Alan Ball, Terry Cooper, Mark Walters, Mick Channon, Bob Wilson Didn’t Brian Godfrey get one Welsh cap? Haven’t checked but I thought he got one way before he was part of the swap with Graydon going to Villa. Good player for us and of course captained us to win the Watney Cup. UTG!

All the players you mentioned were superb and gave 100% except mick channon who always looked disinterested . Brian Godfrey controlled every game he played in for us , speeding it up slowing it down

As an offshoot. Its not such a bad idea (under normal circumstances) to invite older players to train with the club. They keep fit and still get to kick the ball around . They also can pass on invaluable experience to the players.

Played three games for Wales and scored twice. Sadly died in Cyprus in 2010 aged 70.

Who is everyone’s all time favourite Rovers player of those who’ve dropped down the leagues from the top flight? Ball, Channon, Gould etc were just a bit too early for me. I really enjoyed watching Kenny Hibbitt in the Twerton days. another vote for Mark Walters. Still remember the 6-1 (googled it, it was 6-2) against Oxford at the mem in the early thousands. He was absolutely unplayable that day!

I’m not sure about this one. I’d rather be taking players on the way up rather than on the way down.

I think Oxford were already doomed to relegation by that point but I hadn’t realised that they hate Swindle more than we do? That game had everything, eight goals, the opposition goalkeeper sent off, a last minute penalty and awesome performances from the Latvian, the Duke and Wally!

Remember Holloway signed in him in the season of our infamous promotion collapse. If my memory serves me well he was here for two relegations after that. Was a regular for Latvia at that time and many years after. We were his only English club and in later years was the assistant manager for Latvia.

I’m not sure about this one. I’d rather be taking players on the way up rather than on the way down. I think it’s good to have a balance and we’ve had no toughness in our midfield this season apart from a kid from Chelsea and Abu for 2 games. I’d like us to sign Ledley and an experienced striker too but that might be a bit ambitious.

I’m sure I remember getting excited seeing him play against a big team on tv (Germany??) even though I think he’d moved on from us by then.

Nothing to lose by bringing him in short-term. I'd imagine his fitness is way behind where it should be given he hasn't played in so long, but he'll certainly get a chance to contribute.

If we have the budget for it and his fitness is right then it’s a no brainer for me. Quality player just surprised he’d drop down to this level, would also add some much needed experience to a young squad

7 games in 2 years doesn't sound very inspiring. The next Liam Lawrence?
