Both played for city, Phillips saved a penalty in the derby game that we would have won that helped send us down to L2. Sorry must be me, still not getting the comparison I suspect it is you. Inee said he didn't talk to his family who are City fans. He said that on the basis that we would be signing MT from City. We signed SP from City. I asked if Inee watched us with SP. And I wonder if he watched us while Marcus Stewart was assistant?

It's a job for the players. Hes isnt bristolian and doesnt support any team. It was a Banned word move but how many of us would stay in a job if a bigger company came offering us more wages in a more competitive and professional environment? Hes got 10 maybe 12 years to make his money, a contract like that could mean the difference between being made for life and having to get a job after football retirement. If he did a job and earned his wages I think the crowd would soon turn. Say his goals sent us up, or won us a cup, would the haters still moan? Won us a cup? What the hell are you smoking? Think the Gloucestershire cup maybe achievable in a few years

Think thread is done now, consistent 60/40 against from start, thought it might have been 80/20 but there you go.

Whereas that other chap left us in the lurch then allowed the move to be used to rub our noses in it. If inee family left the other side and supported us I expect he would talk to them. Not that I would presume to speak on his behalf “ He said that on the basis that we would be signing MT from City.” Sorry not sure what that means

Yes i don't speak to the teds in the family(i've mentioned this on several occasions in the past), that's not based on the snake as you posted, there's a gert ginormous difference between a city fan playing for us(never spoke to marcus) , buying a player off the teds, If i recall correctly, Snakey knew he was going to the sh** preseason, as i remember it din't he train on his own, and came out with he only stayed for the beginning of the season as we would get some money his release fee which in football money is the equivalent to an empty beer can. Who disclosed his release fee to the teds, oh yeah probably him, you can't tell me he din't know what would happen to our season when he went, so he went into that season knowing full well that if he played well for a few games the the ted move was a dead certs (probably the real reason he came back when the season started. So there you go my reasons, take it or leave it

sorry a happy clapper i will never be, so you get snakey back and he does the same thing a couple of years later he does it again, you'd have him back again. On the flip side, if when we were in the conference and someone said 'were gonna give you a striker, he's going to get you back into the top half of league one in two and a half seasons but he will leave to play in the champ for city, take it or leave it' i think most of us would have taken it. I hate the way he left but the only way he could make it up to us is to start banging the goals back in for us. Its not going to happen but i for one wouldnt be displeased if we did manage to capture his signing. Erm reread your post isn't that what happened give or take a few things, thats history, but you missed the bit about trying to resign him and my answer would still be nope

I heard a rumour that inee's wife went shopping in asda Bedminster the other day as the queues were too long on the blue side of the river...inees wife is now apparently having to sleep in a tent in the back garden.. The lockdown toilet roll that she bought for him from a 'red' shop was subsequently thrown in the bin

Seems 40% would have him back and 60% wouldn't. Surprisingly close.
Presonally I would and I wonder how many of that 60% would change their mind if he scored 30+ goals next season and fired us to the Championship. Most would probably say it wouldn't change their opinion but I bet they'd still be celebrating his 30th goal on the final day that secured promotion.
At the end of the day he's a proven goal scorer at L1 level and showed that again this season at Oxford. He's done far more for Rovers than he ever has for City. He was the biggest factor in our back to back promotions. We'd probably still be in the Conference it it weren't for him because we've seen since how difficult it is to find a free scoring striker. Although it hurt to see our star player go to the dark side, I can understand the temptation. Didn't have to move house, got paid 2 or 3 times as much for doing the same job and the opportunity to play at a higher level.
I can't see it happening but a Taylor and Clarke-Harris front two would be lethal and would be a sign of real ambition from our owners.
Just my opinion and I can perfectly understand those that think differently.

He will be wanted by every club in the division, I don't think we will be able to get him but we should move Heaven and Earth and try. The guy is quick has a superb footballing brain and can score goals. Put him and JCH in the same side and we will be doing our business at the top end of the division.
