If you are into rugby you will know the French call us Roast Beef and we call them Frogs Legs. Is that offensive now as well. Games gone? Worlds gone!

Links to all the Q&A's are now being uploaded to the club's Twitter account: Thanks to Wael, Martyn, Karim, Tom and of course Lance for hosting this. Good stuff.

Thanks nsblue for sharing and well done to Rovers for this new initiative. It's positive and encouraging to put a human face behind the 'new' names and hear them directly share their views. This is a good step in the right direction and I hope we see more in the future.

So I can’t call myself a carrot cruncher or Wurzel? Might offend myself ffs Real humour is being able to laugh at yourself as long as you don't offend others. when fun is made of others, intentionally or not, indirectly or not, it may be funny for some but not others. I generally do not find it funny when jokes are made by a member of the majority class against a minority? i grew up in the 70s in Bristol when programmes like Love Thy Neighbour, Till Death Do Us Part, etc. were being aired and then faced the results of these types of humour in school and on the streets. It wasn't funny. There are other comedies like Only Fools and Horses that MOST people generally find funny WITHOUT being offended for obvious reasons. A classic interview by Michael Parkinson with Muhammad Ali (after Match of The Day?) touches upon why non-whites may get "touchy" about some English expressions and images in terms of race. The actual interview is unbelievably funny without being offensive? www.facebook.com/enmoreaudio/videos/301544930880398/PS UTG PPS Me, I will always be a Black Arab, irrespective of the RGies; race, religion and gender.

I can see where you are coming from but you seem to pick and choose who it's right or wrong to offend. Most comedy makes fun of someone. Only Fools and Horses makes fun of market traders of which I was was one for many years. It showed us to be thieves, liars, tax Dodgers etc when we had legitimate honest businesses. Did we get offended? No. We all loved the programme we thought it hilarious. Road sweepers could be offended by Trigger's character. Car salesman by Boycie. Barry Bradshaw could be offended by being called Boycie. The point about comedy is that it's the opposite of the truth, it isn't true and that's the funny bit. These comedians are the idiots not the people they are making fun of and that's the whole point. Do people really think Peter Kay hates his Nan? If you take on the role of judge you put yourself in a difficult position. You say it isn't funny for the majority to laugh at the minority, but no mention of the minority making jokes of the majority so do you condone this? Feeling sorry for someone might make you feel better but it wont make those you are trying to 'protect' feel better by placing sorrow on their shoulders.

I made a crap joke in bad taste and I’ve apologised for it, let’s not ruin what is a good positive and useful thread anymore with this?
