In the light of JCH's transfer, exactly how far down have our pants been pulled?

We are absolutely shocking at negotiating price to sell our players. We literally give them away.
Watch Peterborough sell Toney for 5m plus.

Not sure we can do much when a player refuses to sign a new contract? The other option is offer every new signing a 3+ years contract but then we get stuck with the likes of Bennett and Nichols.

I agree with the sentiment, but when did we last get a good deal when selling our best players? Cureton Lambert Hoskins Taylor Bodin Harrison Lockyer JCH And there’s plenty more.

His agent and him are the only people pulling our pants down - off he f*cks. No player is bigger than the Gas

I disagree. We got £1m for a player went on to play for England.

JCH cost nothing and kept us up and could possibly have got us promoted had Coughlan stayed. The club have reportedly banked 1.25m plus clauses, hopefully sell-ons that could bring in lots more if he is sold on for silly money. Peterborough are taking a gamble and if as I hope, it works out everybody wins. I can't blame JCH for wanting to progress and I wish him every success.

It's where we need to improve then isn't it. JCH has been given a 3 year contract, just like most of Posh's players.

I disagree. We got £1m for a player went on to play for England. I agree but I think we got more than that? He was sold to Liverpool for 4m and I’m pretty sure we got a cut of that too?

I disagree. We got £1m for a player went on to play for England. All about opinions, he could have walked but like the gentleman he undoubtedly is he signed a contract. That million plus add ons would have been the sum total of f*ck all without his honesty. - UTG

I think it’s actually really good business, who else is paying over 1M for 3rd division players in this current market?

If the reported transfer fee is correct, I think we have got a good deal. With less than a year left on his contact and with him clearly looking for a move, if he's going to Peterborough,I would have accepted anything around £1 million. Could have lost him for nothing and had him sulking for the next season.
Would blame JCH not the club this time. Clearly wanted a move. If he moved on to a championship club I would have wished him well, now I'm not so sure. Only hope he does well if we have a decent sell on clause!

As sad as I am to see JCH leave, especially for a club in the same division, I think the reported fee is good business for a player who can leave for free in the summer. Now to find an adequate replacement or 2 UTG

He was also a sh** Coventry cast off when he signed according to some. I wonder how many of the fans who didn’t want him to sign in the first place are now the ones moaning we are not getting a bigger transfer fee?

I don’t think our pants have been pulled down but neither do I think it’s a tremendous deal considering the money Peterborough are just about to get for Toney.
At the end of the day though he only had one deal left on his contract and £1.25 million would be far more valuable to us than an unhappy JCH who can effectively run his contract down and go for nothing.

Not pulled down one bit , we seem to be finally heading in the right direction. Well done to all concerned. I really don’t see what the issue is , he was holding out on a new contract and would of gone for nothing in a years time , instead of fannying around getting our pants pulled down by contract demands that broke the bank we were in a position to say thanks but no thanks and sell him on without it dragging on throughout the transfer window.

Don’t think 1.25m is a great price but then again yeah it’s better than nothing, I guess the cost benefit of JCH for one more season was outweighed by the likelihood of losing him for a reduced value or even on a free.
He’s quite injury prone and clearly didn’t want to be here so probably for the best we’ve done this deal, and I’m not massively disappointed (it was inevitable really) but we certainly need 2 in to derisk this sale.
The thing for me is that we repeatedly get reduced fees for our best players when other clubs make a killing.

Given the financial hit the club will have taken due to Covid, the length left on his contract, the absence of a sell-on for Coventry & the lack of desire to be here from JCH, I think it’s a fair price.
