That you all should probably be quiet and wait until the lad plays to judge That's a relief for a moment there I thought he was trying to say he could have the same impact as Tammy had at C***

Good enough for Chelsea’s first team but not good enough for us after him only being here less than an hour?? We can only go on what we know.
1) We know he's another youngster when most felt we needed some experience. 2) He was signed on a season long loan by Shrewsbury last year and didn't feature - even as a sub - in any league game after August. He was sent back to Chelsea early - Dec 2019 - because he wasn't getting a look in.
I'm sure everyone - myself included - hope he proves to be a fantastic signing but I'm not confident due to the reasons stated above.

I remember when City fans were underwhelmed when they loaned Tammy Abrahams from Chelsea, they weren’t so underwhelmed a few months later. So what are you saying? Just because he’s young & people haven’t heard of him, it’s doesn’t mean he’s a poor signing. Like I said city fans at first we’re questioning the loan signing of Abrahams & within a few months he was the top goal scorer in the championship.

Welcome Luke In predictable gaschat style written off within hours of signing Don't think anyone's really writing him off, just saying he probably isn't what we needed. Bit like going out to buy a new car, only to come home with a brilliant mountain bike. Not necessarily a bad purchase, but if you were planning to drive around Europe, it wasn't really what you needed. I'll be honest I know nothing about the lad it just frustrates the hell out of me that before he's even kicked a ball there's already negative comments. He might be brilliant he might barely make any impression but until he plays we won't know.

We needed a midfielder based on what I have seen so far this season so I'm happy enough, but obviously we will have to see what kind of player he is.

True, but you’re cherry picking an extreme example of a best case loan, we had two from Chelsea under DC and they didn’t set the world alight so I’ve basically seen your Abraham and raised you a crap loan 😛 There is usually far more bad than good in the loan market, we know that ourselves and recently too with Tammy’s bother!

Welcome to the lad.
Seems to have the profile of a player who’d suit a midfield 3 more so than a midfield pairing - so maybe we’ll see 4231 or 433 used at times with McCormick next to Grant-Westbrooke?
Hope so!

Colkett? Didn’t we terminate his loan early?? colket on the ball was excellent which in garners system would work well. Colket didn’t fit Clarke’s system like boteng didn’t both are still excellent players regardless. They were both bone idle. Was it Shrewsbury away where neither got out of a jog and we’re subbed at halftime? i really hope this lad isn’t another Colkett

Was disappointed when he left to join Swindon on loan in all honesty.

I heard he is gutsy with a good engine on him. I think he could go very nicely... Anyone know what number he has been allocated . Think we might still have two more incomings btw... Why do you say that? Heard something?
BG said one, maybe 2.
You answered tour own question there!

He was a player with a lot of potential but during his time with us was largely ineffective and got an easy time by fans because of his reputation and where he was on loan from. Yes he went to Swindon, and what happened to them that season? They got relegated with too many young players trying to play decent football. Exactly what I can see happening here.

Talent alone doesn’t make a footballer, I predicted at the time his career would peter out and I’ll stand by that. Last I heard Chelsea had farmed him out to Scandinavia somewhere. I hope this lad has more about him. I wish him all the best and hope it works out - May even prompt Garner to get rid of his stupid system which will be worth any loan costs in itself!

Sounds a confident polite young ambitious man, to all the detractors have you ever started a job where people wanted you to fail from day 1, give the kid a chance and you might be pleasantly surprised. Jack mesure knows him well so might be just what we want

You'd think after signings of JCH and Nichols in recent years and the initial reaction and subsequent performance of both, we'd have learnt to judge the player in a rovers shirt instead of by his Wikipedia page!

I'd disagree, I think there's some revisionism going on here because I remember Colkett actually quite productive for us in terms of goals and assists for a midfielder. There were one or two games where he didn't turn up and I can see the complaints that he was a bit lightweight but on the whole he had a good loan spell with us for a young player IMO. Coventry had a lot of young players and tried to play decent football last season and went up. I don't think having a young squad in itself guarantees things either way.
