Does anyone else forget that McCormick is a loanee? He seems to absolutely love the Gas... he is pretty much the first one to jump on a goal scorer and looks like he just loves playing for us (Good lad) Reckon he will stay here, chances at chelsea are so limited that he must be thinking of the future, UTG.

It would be interesting... Not sure that he is available, that being said we seem to have a decent relationship with Chelsea so you never know... Current club: Bristol Rovers Bristol Rovers Joined: Sep 21, 2020 Contract expires: 31.05.2021 On loan from: Chelsea FC U23 Contract there expires: 30.06.2022 Looks like we would need to buy him if he does stay as his contract doesn't end for a year and a bit. I like that I know longer yearn for Josh Sheehan, in fact, i totally forgot about him now. He is good, but I believe that BG and TW are pretty good at finding these younger stars... still early days of course but i'm optimistic - Was impressed by Grant (Arguably Sheehan's position) on Saturday - he is certainly improving game on game for me.

Yes, agreed on the point about Grant. I’ve been unconvinced in the first few games, but he was very good indeed against Lincoln, which was probably only not talked about so much due to Hanlon, Daly, McCormick etc all playing so well!

Glad someone else picked up on that. I loved that passion at the end as well, means a lot for the defensive players by the looks (Look at their group hug). Harries was very aggressively happy lol - you can see it in the final seconds of the twitter vid here:

Chelsea have so many talented young players that only the exceptional ones will stay there, I think he is good but way off premier league standard, so they would just release him early, the main thing is building a good relationship with Chelsea where they trust us with their players, so we can benefit long term, sheehan looks decent but would cost money and be to the detriment of others like Hargreaves and Tomlinson.

For sure. I know its only been a couple of games but I don't mind getting a little carried away, I love the fact that the players are proving me wrong in the fact that I was a bit dubious (even though i am in the garner camp and the rose tinter) about the physical side of the game. I did a post earlier that the attacking 5 on saturday had an average age of 21.8, thats risky for any team, but they way we play or are starting to play just makes me feel that these young players are gonna keep getting better and bring points and pounds into the club. Furthermore I think in BG, JM and the recruitment team we can build up this conveyer belt of young talent - which i guess is the project and end goal for us as a club. Waels links to Chelsea and BG,JM &TW knowledge of youth talent pool, is exciting. UTG

Was it Grant who one-touched Westbrooke's deflected "Trent-Arnold" pass on to Hare that led to Daley's goal? Hare ain't half got a cross on him and could land it on a seagull's head

Also McCormick cross field to Hare for the Brandon pen. Good passages of play!

In Dave and Josh as our wingbacks, we have real quality in ball carrying and crossing - this (played with confidence) puts the opponent on the back foot. In my opinion you can see through the eye test that confidence in that regard is coming and is improving match on match. It could go wrong against Burton, however I am confident in the lads to put in another decent shift and bag another win on Saturday. This all depends on whether Brandon is fit mind you. That signing may well be one of the signings of the window. I had not heard of him before but he is really good in the role he is being asked to play. Listened again to the Gascast below and the Gills rep said about how strong he is and that he can take a kicking and get back up and carry on. He is certainly living up to that description (including the parts where if he has time to shoot he tends to over think - which I trust BG to change in him) listen.gascastpodcast.co.uk/276671/5385970-scout-report-brandon-hanlan-ft-gills-in-the-bloodIf he and Ayunga are not fit, that means a whole shift in what we do, that would be a real test as we would be playing with a false 9 type for sure and that will only work if our opponent sit off us, not sure that is Burtons way

There's no suggestions Hanlan won't be fit, plus the transfer window is still open. I assume a striker must now be a priority, assuming there's some money in the transfer kitty, wages wise.
Anybody else sensing the Sheenan talk was just forum nonsense, as I can't see us paying a decent transfer fee plus a 2 or 3 year contract then just signing McCormick on loan?

Yeah i deffo got carried away on the EFL_HUB twitter nonsense... I think it's a case of wanting some transfer news badly and then readily believing nonsense and making reasons why its likely to be true (local-ish lad, tackler and ball carrier blah blah) In Grant we have the makings of a player far superior to Sheehan in terms of breaking up play and defending, that's part of his role, then in McCormick / (developing) Hargreaves / Nicholson we have the ball carrying and energy and pressing side. That should then leave westbrooke to make magic in the centre of the park. Love it.

Means that we could potentially snap him up on the cheap next summer if he continues to impress.

It's it nice to be talking about the player so positively that many of us (including me) were thinking... not sure THAT is what we needed in terms of a signing. Well done Luke.
