You’d be fuming if another club signed him from under our noses! No issues with the signings just announcing it at 7pm via Twitter on transfer deadline day gave the impression it was going to be another first team squad signing. To tell you the truth, I've been considering posting to the "Wishlist" thread, to say "I wish we'd stop making signings. Enough is enough!"

Wow, a great young footballer with a sweet left foot has just signed. He is versatile in that in he can play on the wing and defend well. We beat the City and a lot of clubs to sign this young man. From all accounts he is hopefully going to be a great tallent to nurture. UTG

What a let down, Ryan Jones from W-S-M Only the best talent WSM has had since Ollie Watkins...We’ve only beaten clubs like Fulham to his signature. So yeah proper let down 🙄🙄

Played and nearly scored for Fulham U23s at the start of the month. Deal was agreed, but fell through in the last week, which is when we moved quickly as we had to beat off Peterborough for his signature. Barry Fry will be spitting feathers as he was raving about him on Tuesday night. Fry stayed over night to agree a deal, only for us to better it. Wolves were also watching him and one or two other Prem clubs from what I am told. At least he got a night in Weston. Did he enjoy the pier?

Unsubstantiated rumours that Bazza turned up wearing a 'kiss me quick' hat and offered a stick of Weston Rock as a signing on fee.

Wonder what the previous record was that we’ve surpassed?

Wonder what the previous record was that we’ve surpassed? The record was for Dayle Grubb going to Forest Green, but not sure of the fee.

Nice comments from Scott Laird, who has had a quality career as a left back. When asked on his current situation after their Cup-tie with The Larks, player-assistant manager Scott Laird, who scored 24 goals in 278 games in the Football League for Forest Green Rovers, Preston North End, Scunthorpe, Stevenage and Walsall, said: “Ryan Jones is special, he moves differently, he moves like a proper proper football player. The way he manipulates the ball, the way he dribbles, the way he skips past people. He’s quick, he’s tenacious and gets stuck in, he’s not afraid and confident. “He’s got everything in my opinion to be a very very good footballer in the Football League and I hope he gets that opportunity.”

Do Weston have a decent team at the moment then with these 2 Pirate? I went to watch the fa Cup game vs Wrexham a couple of seasons ago. How would you compare their team now to then?

The only thing that worries me is the moves differently part. The last players I remember described as moving differently were Chris Zebroski and Craig Stanley. Actually they both moved very differently! Seriously though looking forward to seeing the lad develop with us. Things are ticking along nicely.

Grubb could have stayed in League Two and had interest from Yeovil in the National League, but he was offered a 4 year deal and also secured a good teaching job at a local school. Similar for Scott Laird who could have stayed in League Two, but wanted to start his coaching career and felt the opportunity with Weston was too good to turn down. He also has links to the club with his brother a former player and his father a former manager at the club. Captain Greg Tindle and Nick McCootie both had contract offers to stay at Chippenham Town a level higher and in my opinion the loan signing from Cardiff, James Waite, could play in the Football League. The best squad they have had in a very long time and should be aiming for promotion. Edit: Forgot to mention the right back Kieron Thomas. Had offers to play at a level higher and trialled with Derby County a few years ago, but decided to join Weston this summer. A real coup. Best right back in the division without doubt and probably the division above too.

Cracking signing IMO - sounds like a level headed young man - his parents must be very proud of him. Hopefully he’s going to have a great future in the game, starting with Bristol Rovers - brilliant!!!.

I used to play football with Scott's dad Craig, we played one of if not the last games on the Luton plastic pitch, one nil down at half time Craig moved to right back and took all the balls from the keeper. We played out from back all the second half and won 8-1, Craig had a brilliant football brain and what might have been even better was that he had one of the first little mobile TV's which we all used to watch on the coach trips.

Nice story. Craig is a really great bloke and did a good job with Weston, had them playing some excellent football. I still see him occasionally at the club watching games on the terrace.
