Rodman can play at RWB once he recovers from his illness, Kilgour can cover in the meantime or Nicholson if we he need a more attacking treat. Given the size of our squad then you do wonder how the smaller clubs will cope if they pick up a few injuries/suspensions. Does anybody have a link to the actual EFL rules as their website seems to be totally silent on the rules? Found a good explanation: www.eadt.co.uk/sport/league-one-salary-cap-to-affect-ipswich-town-1-6785446I didn't appreciate next season we're down to just 20 senior pros! "Clubs will be able to name 22 players aged 21 or over (at the turn of this calendar year) in their squads for the upcoming season. That number will drop to a squad size of just 20 players aged 21 or over for the 2021/22 campaign." A devious ploy coupled with the EPPP to force EFL clubs into having to loan in youngsters from the Category A Farms, I mean, uh, academies.

The aged 21 or under cut off date is the start of the calendar year, so 01/01/2021.
I assume if we have to leave any players out Davies and Little are the obvious choices. Then have a rethink in January, assuming it's 1 January and not mid month or later.

Most likely all the senior pros who were signed by DC and GC? Bennett, Leahy, Little, Davies, Upson, Ogogo plus Kelly?
Next season it could be just BG's signings plus Jaakola and Kilgour from last season's regular starters.

Tried to create lists which I think are going to be reflected in the registered players being submitted to the EFL. Players Loaned out:GK Alexis Andre 23 MID Lucas Tomlinson 19 DEF Ryan Jones 18 MID Kyle Bennett 30 ATK Kieran Phillips 18 ATK Ollie Hulbert 18 ATK Harry Warwick 20 Players 21 and under (not sure of the DoB cut off):GK Liam Armstrong 20 MID Luke McCormick (Loan) 21 MID Cameron Hargreaves 21 MID Zain Walker 18 ATK James Daly 20 DEF Ali Koiki 21 MID Jaydon Mitchell-Lawson (Loan) 21 MID Tom Mehew 19 Players not in squad list:MID Abu Ogogo 30 My prediction of the 22 squad (over 21):1 GK Anssi Jaakkola 33 2 GK Jordi van Stappershoef 24 3 DEF Jack Baldwin 27 4 DEF Cian Harries 23 5 DEF Max Ehmer 28 6 DEF Mark Little 32 7 DEF Alfie Kilgour 22 8 DEF Luke Leahy 27 9 DEF Michael Kelly 22 10 DEF David Tutonda 25 11 DEF Josh Hare 26 12 DEF Tom Davies 28 13 MID Ben Liddle 22 14 MID Ed Upson 30 15 MID Zain Westbrooke 23 16 MID Erhun Oztumer (Loan) 29 17 MID Josh Barrett 23 18 MID Sam Nicholson 25 19 MID Alex Rodman 33 20 MID Josh Grant 22 21 ATK Jonah Ayunga 23 22 ATK Brandon Hanlan 23 I guess if some of our 21 year olds are older than the cut off the likes of Little and Davies could be off while they recover from injury and maybe even Kelly to go out on loan or something. Looks like we should be ok though as the list gets updated in Jan 2021. Was quite hard to do so i may have made errors, please let me know if you think i have. Cheers If I've read the rules right then Kilgour definitely and possibly Kelly fall under the home grown rule because of how long they've been with us and so they don't count in the over 21 list This squad List is just another example of a seemingly good idea to supposedly protect clubs (such as the salary cap) but actually prove quite restrictive and I believe ultimately damaging to a number of clubs at this present time. My understanding is that the 'home grown' players is an ADDITIONAL restriction, within the squad list itself, i.e., of the 22 named players (not including under 21's) eight must be home grown players. Only the under 21's are exempt from the squad of 22. I think Ben has planned well and as difficult as it does seem to limit the squad size, we seem to have a good balanced squad, with competition for places. I wonder how other clubs have managed with this? I believe that over the long term, all that pre-season hard work from Ben working in close conjunction with his recruitment team (led by Tommy Widdrington), identifying and bringing in the types of player Ben wants at an early stage, will reap benefits this season and next. It remains to be seen however, how well this squad limitation will be enforced. What penalties will be administered? If clubs can continuosly tweek the player lists, then the whole concept becomes redundant. UTG!

If the lists have to be submitted this week then I assume it'll have to be submitted by 5pm tonight?
Given the likes of Davies and Little may now have to miss out you can see now why we didn't sign another experienced striker as, if we had, then another player would have to miss out.

The whole concept actually seems rather ageist? Surely anyone over the age of 22 is going to comparatively struggle for employment in the game moving forward? The value of players under 22 will surely increase too, as clubs will be clamouring for their signature in order to meet the cap.
All seems utterly bizarre. If it's about money, just have a wage cap? There's no guarantee a 19 year old may not earn more money than a 30 year old.
Crazy

I definitely think we’ve done well with so many of those under 21s able to slot into the first team.

Crazy Interesting point that it'll almost certainly drive the demand, and therefore the value in fees and wages, for players under 22. It's all stupid and at best short-sighted.

Did we submit a list, didnt see it over the weekend? Haven’t seen anything. Surprised that the question was not asked in today’s press conference. I saw that Rotherham announced their squad last Tuesday and said that it had been submitted to the EFL.
