Can i call you a clown as you stated BG was a "good" coach..... just sayin' Just shows your mentality when you'd rather snipe at me before welcoming the new manager. What a sad case. You still making a fool of yourself over on the Sh1!heads forum by the way? 🤣 "attack the post not the poster"......... You are one of the reasons why many people don't come on here and post because your attitude towards fellow fans of Bristol Rovers football club, just because you think you know something about football makes you feel more important than us lesser members of this site Your post above explains it all to sensible people

He sounds like their DC, it does beg the question why we’ve had two of their fans on here who have hardly been very effusive about his contribution. I've often thought that sometimes you can stay at a place a bit too long, no matter how well you have done or are doing. Some people get fed up with hearing the same old voice and forget to look at the bigger picture. It's not like DC didn't have a lot of criticism, anyway, like every time he submitted a team-sheet.

I wanted Tisdale years ago to be honest. I've always found him a bit weird though. Has a higher class background for somebody into football. He went to Millfield school in Street, which I know is a rally good sports school. For example Beckham's son Romeo goes there. Beechen Cliff school which is supposed to be a really good school in Bath too.

I've often thought that sometimes you can stay at a place a bit too long, no matter how well you have done or are doing. Some people get fed up with hearing the same old voice and forget to look at the bigger picture. I can appreciate that but you would think they would still be grateful for the promotions, but it sounds like Exeter fans seem to see him as average- got them promoted, got them relegated. Although it sounds like he was working under severe financial constraints so more impressive an achievement in that sense. I guess I’m surprised because I would have thought he would have got a glowing endorsement from Exeter fans whereas the ones we have spoken to have said that it wasn’t quite the story that has made it into the general consciousness. City fans seem to think it’s a shrewd appointment and that has probably done more for his reputation in my eyes than anything else. They would be the first to take the water if we had hired a clown (they really put the boot in over Garner) so I’m a bit more enthused if still wary of what to expect seeing as the Exeter fans have told us his reputation seems to have been a bit embellished. The proof, as ever, will be in the pudding.

We were spoilt with DC, let’s be fair. It’s made it harder to warm to the managers since. But like you say you don’t have like the manager’s personality, if he wins games then I’m sure we can live with the rest. Although it will be nice if he takes some personal responsibility and doesn’t try to hoodwink the fans in the way that Garner did. People place far too much emphasis on manager’s interviewing style’s IMO. They could have an annoying voice and a nasty attitude and I wouldn’t care a jot if they were winning games for the football club. Of course having a manager like DC, who really got the fans, is a big bonus but it’s not a necessity in my eyes. I think we all find certain mannerisms annoying at times. But they certainly seem more annoying when you’re losing. When you’re winning it’s more “who gives a monkey”. Looking at the Walsall forum at the moment doesn’t make good reading for any DC fan. They’re moaning about his conferences and what he does and what he says after a bad couple of weeks. They’ll probably change when he’s had a couple of wins. They certainly don’t feel spoiled at the moment! It’s the way of most fans I guess, we’re a fickle bunch and I include myself in that. I’ll put up with him and whatever he does if he gets 3 wins in the first 6 games and is consistently getting wins through the rest of the season. UTG!

And you’ve just apologised which is rarely (never!) seen on here when, if it’s about what’s on here tonight, I’m not sure you needed to. But good for you for doing so. As you say, group hug and move on to beating Swindon on Saturday. UTG!

Exeter City fan here (though I live in Weston, and have also watched Rovers many times back at Eastville) When Tisdale first arrived at Exeter we had no money (still don't), so he was expected to bring youth through from the academy. Exeter have always tried to play football, and he also set us up to play out from the back. He signed some really good players over the years for Exeter, Rob Edwards, and Jamie Cureton for example, and he did bring through a number of good local youngsters. We enjoyed two promotions under Tisdale, and for a small club took a few scalps in League 1. I enjoyed the first years under his control. When we got relegated back to league 2 I was not upset, expecting us to be competitive in League 2, even if not getting straight back up. we then seemed to be stuck in a rut, playing 1 up front at home with no plan B when faced with a physical side. Tis is slow to change things when everyone else in the ground sees the need for a sub, he will wait until we concede, then talk a good story in the interview after, I also wonder how much help Steve Perryman (great bloke) was to him at Exeter, Anyway, best of luck to you all, (excet when you play Exeter!) cheers Any manager that is at a club 12 years is going to have a season or 2 when things don't go to plan. That can be for any number of reasons, some of which may be out of his control. There were certainly more good times than bad during his spell at St James Park and some notable achievements. There's no reason to think he can't also be successful here but of course, there are no guarantees.
On paper at least, he looks a good fit for Rovers. We shall see.

Got a good feeling about Tisdale, clearly going to fit in with Wael and his gang; hopefully saves his best for West Country clubs and why would anyone want to spend more than a year in Milton Keynes anyway?

Just saw the full photo on that thread, strewth it looks like something you might see on the Death Star! I can just imagine the empire theme tune playing. Putting his managerial achievements to one side for second this fashion stuff seems to follow him around because that photo looks very contrived, like some sort of photo op for band or something, not a football manager! Just be normal and gurn for the camera with a scarf above your head!

As regards our new gaffer i'm happy the club have gone for an experienced manager this time around. i know nothing about the man except his Bath Connections, where a good friend of mine (ex gas player) said he was a very good man manger and coach

What style of play can we expect and what's his preferred formation? Is he likely to persevere with the young talent we have or dissect the squad with a steamroller and put us through all that again at the next window? Is he the kind of man who learns from his mistakes or the type who stubbornly sticks to a blueprint for failure? What part of Bath does he live in?
