wow...3 pages before he's been appointed and a good sprinkling of negative ones. Sounds like he wont get many games before the 'Tisdale out' brigade raise their voices! On a positive note, Tisdale sounds as though he's not the type to read a fans forum so hopefully he wont read all this nonsense. Yeah I forgot that we live in a world where we all have to be over-joyed at every managerial appointment the club makes

To be honest I don't dislike Tisdale. I think he's got a lot about him and has achieved some good things. I wouldn't hate it if he was appointed but he's not my preference plus recommendations from Pirate are clearly jinxed so it would obviously end in disaster. Not to mention, by his own admission, the man taught Paul Buckle everything he knows. So why poison a thread with rubbish, I’m genuinely curious what you get out of it ? Dramatic much? I'm not poisoning a thread, I'm giving my opinion. And it isn't rubbish, nothing I've said is untrue.

I really have never quite understood why some people consider certain managers to only be capable of managing in L2. Personally I don't see why there should be any reason to think that someone who is good at managing in L2, can't also be good at managing in L1. The only two times he's managed in L1, has been with clubs he brought up from L2. In my eyes, this immediately puts him at somewhat of a disadvantage, as Exeter let's face it are not a club of L1 stature, and MK Dons had a lot of injury problems and besides they have been struggling in L1 under other managers as well. At least Tisdale actually got them back into this level. If he gets appointed by us, then he's immediately working at a club that are already established at this level. I would be excited to see what he could achieve here. It’s the same as strikers who can score in league 2 but not in l1. It’s a step up for everyone at a club, there’s more nous involved in every are as things are that bit more professional. The time and space you get to work in on the pitch is that little bit less. so just as players can get found out managers can get found out. Let’s be fair he’s had one good season in league one after a few attempts. One thing he has got in his favour though is that he couldn’t possibly dismantle a winning team in the way that Garner did. I was adamant from day one that Garner was an awful decision and it was compounded by his taking us from 3rd to 15th. I’m not happy that it’s going to be Tisdale but we can only go up from here so if he manages that then I’ll get behind him. Your devotion to Rovers is so strong as always

I wish I was Tisdale not even announced and already he's been labelled as the cheap option and a failed league 1 manager. People are always going to be critical, it’s not a Gaschat thing, that’s the internet and life itself. I think characterising him as a failed league one manager is unfair, people are just stating that he has had 4 attempts at league one and in only one did he make a good fist of it. He fits the board’s criteria but he is far from a stellar appointment that will make the rest of the division sit up and take notice. I get that people are going to have differing opinions and he won't be everyone's first choice. What I dont understand is why he's being written off by some before he's even been appointed. There's no guarantee with any manager whose to say that Cook (who fwiw I think would have been an excellent choice) for example might fail spectacularly and someone we've never heard of come in and be a roaring success. If it is Tisdale I can completely understand why we would go for him as he seems to fit the profile we've set out. I couldn't care less what the rest of the division think, I'm sure they weren't overly concerned when we appointed Trollope and that didnt turn out too badly.

Would not be my choice, he was longest serving manager at Exeter the club didnt progress a great deal. Moved on to MK Dons but never impressed. What's Exeter's highest ever league position ? Genuine question.

[br Not digging you personally out here, but people wanted Michael Flynn, hasn’t exactly made Newport into a league one club the years he’s been there, Michael duff hasn’t done anything yet with Cheltenham, Paul cook was always unrealistic so if we start holding tisdale against those expectations then it’s more than harsh. I can definitely see why we’ve gone for him, promotions, developed players, experience, and his style of football, on paper he is perfect. Now it’s time for us all if he is appointed to get behind him and the team. UTG Yes he achieved more at Exeter than Gerry Francis did and he turned out alright. Thing is signing managers is the same as players in that just because they are perhaps successful elsewhere or not successful elsewhere it doesn’t mean they’re a good signing or a bad signing. Every player we sign and every manager we sign starts with a clean slate and they only become good or bad signings based on what they achieve at the club. PT is on P 0 W 0 D 0 L 0. Have we even signed him ?

What was achieved with Exeter in L1 was achieved with the squad they had at the time. Similarly with MK Dons. We all seem to think we have a decent if slightly unbalanced squad. There is absolutely no way you can compare achievement with those 2 squads with what is possible with ours.

Not disappointed with this in that I think he will be a better fit with Wael and Starnes than Cook or Flynn would have been. The stuff I’ve read about Tisdale suggests he wants to play football in a fair and attractive manner and he won’t instruct his teams to waste time even when narrowly winning a tough fixture, should make for a more exciting and nerve wracking ride!

Some may choose to accept the reasons why Rovers cannot attract top notch candidates and the vast majority will support whoever is appointed but there is no point in being dishonest with ourselves.

Can’t help but think we will regret this. Not as much you'll regret this post... (still with no explanation may I add). gaschat.co.uk/post/672887P.S I hope this didn't put anyone off making some money off of it! I could understand why it would! To say something so manner of fact with no explanation is a bit off, no?

Was Tillson assistant to Tisdale for his whole time at Exeter? Wikipedia doesn't mention if he followed him to MK Dons. Does anyone know what he's doing at the moment?

I want him to succeed, i just cant help but think weve gone for cheapest option again. I would have liked us to go for a manager who has been championship level, or at least high end league 1 level.
I really hope this works out tho.
We best all get down the tailers for 1st home match we can attend.

If it is Tisdale, I am content with this. Whilst at Exeter he achieved a fair degree of success whilst operating under the financial constraints of a fan owned club. He will have more resources available to him with us. If he will instill attractive football and gets redults, whats there not to like

Your devotion to Rovers is so strong as always I’m not going to stand around and clap anyone who takes us back to league two. Some on here would be perfectly happy to because they think that’s what being a supporter is all about: being perfectly happy however badly run the club is being. I’ve stopped classing myself as a supporter as a result. I’m a follower, I want us to win and my support of the manager is conditional on the job he is doing. As always other ways of associating yourself with the club are available.... So this for me is a very unambitous signing, but Tisdale has at least some promotions to his name so it’s not as rank bad as Garner and he can’t ruin a winning team so that’s a decent start in and of itself.

Can't complain too much.
It'll be good to have someone local in charge for a change.
No chance we were getting Paul Cook and the few other young managers named were risky.

I'm surprised you don't think he's a genius appointment. I mean he got the best out of your mate Tommy Nichols with a ratio of 1 in 2, what more do you want!
