You’re new to the internet aren’t you? I wish I was Tisdale not even announced and already he's been labelled as the cheap option and a failed league 1 manager. I know mate and the most ridiculous thing is he’s neither of those things. Important that when he does come in through the door, we get behind him regardless of our opinions on the appointment.

All the best if it is, not my first choice, I'd have gone for Cook all day long as he tasted success in league one and managed in championship, but if PT can get us winning then happy to be proved wrong.

Would he even be able to bring any of his own staff like Tilson for example? Starnes said the new manager would have to work with the current back room staff. There maybe room to bring the odd new staff member in, but the club certainly won’t be paying anyone else off.

I would like to know if we at least approached Cook. I don’t mind if the answer was “no way” as long as we at least tried!

He says he tells his team "We're one nil up already" because he's wearing an expensive jacket on the touchline. One of the most banal and pointless football anecdotes I've ever heard and football anecdotes are one of the most banal and pointless type of anecdote. 8 promotions as a Football manager would suggest he knows more than you on player motivation. Great appointment imho. It’s amazing the logic people use that he’s not a league 1 manager, when Exeter had the smallest budget in lge1 took them to 8th and was offered championship jobs it gets used against him. If he took one of those championship jobs he’d have been a Championship manager but because he stayed loyal people use it against him, crazy. For me the most important trait in a man above all else is loyalty and integrity above all else. Tisdale has it all as well as 700 games in management 1 relegation and 8 promotions. What has the fact he knows more about player motivation than me got to do with him telling an interviewer boring stories about how expensive his clothes are?

wow...3 pages before he's been appointed and a good sprinkling of negative ones. Sounds like he wont get many games before the 'Tisdale out' brigade raise their voices! On a positive note, Tisdale sounds as though he's not the type to read a fans forum so hopefully he wont read all this nonsense.

Just thinking... do you think Garner ball is going to be replaced by Tis-ball... after hearing the man in podcasts i'm sure he will just remind me that its just 'football'

People are always going to be critical, it’s not a Gaschat thing, that’s the internet and life itself. I think characterising him as a failed league one manager is unfair, people are just stating that he has had 4 attempts at league one and in only one did he make a good fist of it. He fits the board’s criteria but he is far from a stellar appointment that will make the rest of the division sit up and take notice.

A good fit for where we are and the philosophy Starnes talked about. Tisdale has developed the likes of Matt Grimes, Ollie Watkins, Ethan Ampadu, George Friend, David Wheeler, Jayden Stockley and others, generating 7-8 million in transfer fees and playing an attractive brand of football.

I really have never quite understood why some people consider certain managers to only be capable of managing in L2. Personally I don't see why there should be any reason to think that someone who is good at managing in L2, can't also be good at managing in L1. The only two times he's managed in L1, has been with clubs he brought up from L2. In my eyes, this immediately puts him at somewhat of a disadvantage, as Exeter let's face it are not a club of L1 stature, and MK Dons had a lot of injury problems and besides they have been struggling in L1 under other managers as well. At least Tisdale actually got them back into this level. If he gets appointed by us, then he's immediately working at a club that are already established at this level. I would be excited to see what he could achieve here. Not often I disagree with you Jomo, but here I do. I think there is a huge difference in the style of play between L1 &L2. L1 has a much higher press and the ball is on the ground more, L1 is becoming more like championship football YoY IMO. I think the big worry for me as well is the standards of players as well. As I’d stated in another thread, if we look at the standard of players we’ve brought in under DC, GC and BG - they’ve been getting better constantly. My concern is Tisdales understanding of L1 and higher Fair points Gassy, and you may be right. In this instance we'll agree to disagree, as there will be managers who rely more on getting in players' heads and motivating them to get the best out of them, which will be their biggest assets, and this in my view can work at any level, providing your squad isn't full of disrespectful primadonnas. Hopefully Tisdale can do something like this if hes appointed. Of course we'll have to wait and see.

To be honest I don't dislike Tisdale. I think he's got a lot about him and has achieved some good things. I wouldn't hate it if he was appointed but he's not my preference plus recommendations from Pirate are clearly jinxed so it would obviously end in disaster. Not to mention, by his own admission, the man taught Paul Buckle everything he knows.

I would be really surprised if Wael went down this route. A bang average 3/4 th Division manager(something I can only aspire too btw). May as well give it to Widdington overseeing Mansell or someone similar. How many play off finals has he lost? Really that many
