Just wanted to put it out there - Hanlan is the real deal. Another excellent goal last night. Think that's 5 already in a side that hasn't been very offensive.
The guy works his socks off too. Never had a bad game yet - even when we've been trounced. You can see he really cares that we do our best too- watch his reaction when Grant pulled it back to 1-2 on Saturday.
A player to build a team round him - hopefully Daly is entrusted to play up there with him whoever the new gaffer is.
What's the Hanlan song please ?

He also looks much better when he has someone up top with him. He was less effective second half last night after Daly went off. Play those two together and they will get us a decent amount of goals. Especially if we attack a little bit more like we did last night.

Especially if we attack a little bit more like we did last night. Strange that Hanlon scored his goal picking the ball up in Rovers half and there was no-one "up front". He reminds me of Devon White, can't control the ball, hardly ever holds the ball up when fed long balls, looks awkward and clumsy but is strong and powerful and hold off challenges. and " scores goals". From memory all of his goals are self made from robust play not the one two passing knock down interplay with a big small pairing that was the success of the likes of Smash and Grab. Daly also IMO scores his goals being a poacher and mainly solo efforts and not as a direct interplay with Hanlan, both will score goals but not in the true sense of a "pair"

A diamond in the rough at the moment, hopefully he will be around for a while, before being sold on for £M's "cook, eat, repeat".

My Concern is that (and I stand to be corrected) Hanlan is on a two-year contract. Unless there's an X number of games clause in his contract to extend it by a year, then to maximise the value in him we will be selling him next summer?

Tisdale wears Ted Baker, and Hanlan wears top man....
Like the Oscars ceremony this forum....

I've just re-watched the video of last night's game to make sure. Guy picks up the ball in his own half, heads off to the opposition penalty area with two opposition players in pursuit, beats four, yes four, defenders in the area, and slots the ball out of reach of an excellent goalie. Now, that's the kind of lack of ball-control I like. Guess he just got lucky!

Really? Seems a rather odd comparison. I think he's really skillful with a good touch and bags of pace. He reminds me very much of a young Nathan Ellington.

Hanlan is not quite as good yet as JCH was at receiving the ball with his back to goal, but he is a lot better at turning his man and has the pace to get away from his marker AND has excellent ball control. His goal yesterday was outstanding - we have a real gem on our hands.

Wonderful attitude, wish they all had the same, but the rest of the team were better last night. Doesn't matter how technically gifted we are if we don't 'want it' we ain't gonna win anything. I hope the new manager instils that in them.

The one criticism fans had of Hanlan was his scoring record, well he seems to be putting that to bed , he is proving to be a very good signing, best of BGs tenure, getting to be a real handful, up the Rovers!

Gillingham fans said he had a good all round game, until the final pass/shot and that he needs ten chances to score. Can't recall him missing too many easy chances. So hopefully he has improved that aspect of his game.

I hope the new manager instils that in them. The wanting it and the passing it forwards were the two big positives for me last night. The negatives were defence still looks shakey and our reserve keeper looks like an outfield player playing in goal. Good game though .
