They were shockingly bad for a League 1 team - We had a goal disallowed in the 1st half too. We were worthy winners, expected much better from them. Hoping you have the same horror show when we come down haha! What sort of team are you out of interest?

Hoping you have the same horror show when we come down haha! What sort of team are you out of interest? Very good at going forward, fast team who like to play football on the ground. None of this hoof and hope crap. Seem solid at the back with Tony McMahon and Nicky Hunt there. Even if we lose the game to you, we will give you a good game and may even surprise one or two of you's.

I think our squad average age is something like 23 years of age. There isn't much experience within the team so when we score first in games, the players seem to get a bit nervous and just sit back and invite pressure on themselves than attempt to kill off the opposition. This has happened a lot so far this season and we've dropped so many points because of it. As a result of this, I would have wanted you to take an early lead as that would stop us sitting back and may actually force us to push forward. When we do attempt to push forward, we look pretty decent. But if you are solid at the back, we do sometimes find it hard to break teams down, so may be not a good idea to let you score first.

I remember the Rammell one for the dreadful gloom that descended around the ground when Darlington went ahead. I’m sure there was tumbleweed blowing across the pitch, although maybe just a trick of the mind Not helped by that massive white elephant of a ground with a couple of thousand fans rattling around inside it The football team no longer play at the Darlington Arena, that is now the home of Darlington Mowden Park RFC who play in National Division 1 (the league below the Championship in Rugby Union) and get around 800 to a game. The football team now play at the rugby ground, but not Mowden Parks old ground, instead they play at Blackwell Meadows home of Darlington RFC who play a couple of divisions below Mowden Park.

If Walsall draw but win on pens I assume it will be decided on the result of our game v Walsall, assuming we beat Chelsea? If so, we'll go out as we lost to them on pens, although Walsall winning two games out of 3 on pens is, hopefully, unlikely given the Chelsea game muyst have also gone to pens? As Rod1883 says, if Walsall draw and we win we will have a better goal difference and therefore go through. Just need to beat Chelsea Boys! Oxford just gone 1-0 up in the 87th minute. Oxford won.

So we only need to draw against Chelsea - and can even lose the penalties and still go through!

Correction - if Chelsea won the penalties after a draw against us they would go through.

I notice Darlington’s game vs Boston was abandoned in the 86th minute tonight, with Boston leading 2-0. Two Darlington players collided & Nicky Hunt was led out on the pitch for 45minutes or so (with what seems to be a serious head injury) before being taken off to hospital.

Is that the Nicky Hunt who played for City? The very same. I believe he was mentioned earlier in this thread, as he played (and was sent off) in the Mansfield game at their place when we won 2-1 in the promotion season and 3 players were given their marching orders. He was a nasty piece of work that day. I hope he has a speedy recovery from this incident of course.

Crazy in the current climate that the first two rounds of the FA Cup are not split north and south like they were a few years ago.
With all the talk of clubs going bust the last thing they need is traveling from one end of the country to the other!

Nicky Hunt badly injured last night playing for Darlo and match was abandoned, Sounds very nasty reading the reports. Irrespective who one of his former clubs is, I'm sure all gas heads will join me in wishing him a speedy and safe recovery.

Good to see he's been released from hospital. Sounds nasty and a bit scary for those close to him both on and off the pitch. Yes, I was at Mansfield when he was up to his nasty self but even so I'd never wish any injury on anyone

Nicky lady garden injured so could be a doubt. To be honest I'd be more worried you were a physical hoof ball team I think as we are a young team that like to play possession football. I think we will beat you comfortably.

I hope we prove you wrong then, Swindon under-estimated us massively and where's that got them? I think you'll win the game, but I don't think it'll be as comfortable as you believe. We shall see.
