It's a cliche, but if some of those goals were scored in the prem, the world world be waxing lyrical.... They were in a word.. sensational Haven’t seen a Rovers player run through a team and score like Sammy Nicholson did today since Billy Bodin. We’ve got a cracking player on our hands there. I know it was a long time ago and a different era, but he's the first I've seen since Harold Jarman to drop his shoulder that way, ghost past a row of bewildered defenders and slot it home low into the corner. Looks like he's been working on his finishing and composure after his recent misses when he was in too much of a hurry and scuffed his shots. I said under Garner there was something special about this group of players when it clicked. We saw brief flashes of it then and it's now starting to come together, but we need to sort out our home form, especially against teams that absorb everything we throw at them and hit us on the break. Daly, Nicholson and Hanlan, what a front trio that is. Get a Van Dyke type in the window and we'll be coasting to safety.

Ed Upson is only 31, hardly an old dog! Isn't 28 meant to be a midfielders prime?
Excluding the EFL Trophy, Rovers scored 13 goals in 14 matches under Garner this season. We've already scored 10 under Tisdale, and that includes 3 games where we didn't score!

Sounds dumb- but a highlight was when Westbrooke went offside. Get him holding a higher line- and other teams cant press us so much.

Too many people on here have written off Upson. He is a better player than most give him credit for. Leahy, too.

If its personally witnessed games i'd have ta say th second half at th Madejski think it was 1999.
We were amazing all over th pitch, an i genuinely think th 3,000 odd fans we took that day scored at least two goals! Th atmosphere was unbelievable. If yous bin there you'll know its really steep an i thought half r fans would be heading home in an ambulance with broken limbs!
As a side note, as today we had folk writin us off an calling for Curo to be substituted in th first half. Sometimes players jes need th chance ta prove folk wrong.

Upson’s biggest issue is his consistency. Barring one year when he ran the Yeovil midfield to the championship, he has always lacked consistency. There is absolutely no doubt he is a good player, but you only see it 5 games out of 44. That’s the frustrating thing with him, you never know which Upson is going to turn up. erm !? I think it's some supporters on here that lack the consistency - we win a game well and suddenly everyone's a hero , then we lose like we did v Fleetwood and The Gills and surprise surprise the usual scapegoats, Grant and Upson are labelled as not worth having at the club even though it was more likely a poor TEAM performance.

Upson had a very good game, but for me Oztumer was the star. He was everywhere and some of his ball control was world class. The highlight for me was when he was surrounded by 3 Wimbledon players and somehow he came out with the ball still under control and did a beautiful lay-off. This was the 'Turkish Messi' that I used to admire when he played against us for Walsall. The problem is going to be who to play when Daly becomes available, because you can't leave out Nicholson and he will be wasted in a 'less forward' role. Also, do you drop Westbrooke for McCormick when/if he's fit, because they both add different things.

Wanted to see Nicholson,Oztumer and Westbrooke start, our 3 most creative players for me,but the addition of the extra midfielder in Upson seems to have made a huge difference on the day.Must have surprised Wimbledon as they couldn’t get a look in around the midfield area.Did we play a kind of diamond formation with Grant sat in front of the back four as extra protection? Excellent result and performance, have to follow it up with another against Plymouth who may be without Danny Mayor as he was sent off yesterday so a bonus for us if that’s the case.

Not sure you can drop anyone after yesterday but I really rate Daly, so I hope he's back in for the nothing Cup on Tues so he can add competition for the league games. Westbrooke made lots of good runs yesterday but his passing and finishing aren't really firing (yet).

And related to that, if a PL player had scored an FA Cup winning goal at Wembley anything like Richard Walker’s second against Shrewsbury in 2007 they would have been drooling over it. A lower league player scores it and it hardly registers in the wider football world. It was a truly wonderfully skilful and magnificent goal that I’ve rarely seen bettered. UTG!

What did grate me with BG was saying how we were a possession based team yet nearly every game we always had less ball than the other team with some games less than 40% I know possession means nothing unless you put the ball in the net but looking at the stats since PT came in are Swindon 50% - 50% Wigan 58% - 42% Darlington 56% - 44% Gillingham 64% - 36% Wimbledon 64% - 36% Like I said possession means nothing without goals as Wednesday proved but with the players we have it does show that we can and are what BG said we were but sadly for him it looks like Tisdale has mamaged to do what BG wanted but couldn’t get the players to do. I think it’s because he didn’t motivate them and put any fight in to their belly’s. He’s a proven coach at premier league and championship level but there’s more to management obviously.

I was lucky enough to have been at that game that day & when you saw even the Luton fans around the ground applauding the goal, you know you have just witnessed something a bit special. I am sure somewhere there’s a clip of the goal on YouTube .

Actually I’ve always rated his first goal as highly. Hit with the outside of his left (wrong) foot, as the ball was fired across him and still managing to place it between the keeper and the near post.
