Agree 100%. And related to that, if a PL player had scored an FA Cup winning goal at Wembley anything like Richard Walker’s second against Shrewsbury in 2007 they would have been drooling over it. A lower league player scores it and it hardly registers in the wider football world. It was a truly wonderfully skilful and magnificent goal that I’ve rarely seen bettered. UTG! and Rickie Lambert’s volley at Luton. Hardly ever mentioned despite a 40-50 yard volley into the top of the net. Followed by a brilliant headed goal in the second half that was kind of frightening if you were stood behind the goalmouth.

Haven’t seen a Rovers player run through a team and score like Sammy Nicholson did today since Billy Bodin. We’ve got a cracking player on our hands there. I know it was a long time ago and a different era, but he's the first I've seen since Harold Jarman to drop his shoulder that way, ghost past a row of bewildered defenders and slot it home low into the corner. Looks like he's been working on his finishing and composure after his recent misses when he was in too much of a hurry and scuffed his shots. I said under Garner there was something special about this group of players when it clicked. We saw brief flashes of it then and it's now starting to come together, but we need to sort out our home form, especially against teams that absorb everything we throw at them and hit us on the break. Daly, Nicholson and Hanlan, what a front trio that is. Get a Van Dyke type in the window and we'll be coasting to safety. That's what I so admired about Harold - he rarely had to avoid an actual tackle, because defenders didn't know when to make a challenge. By the time they decided, he was gone. I think you're right - Nicholson seems to have the same ability. Though, at the start of that mazy run for the first goal, it was lucky the ref didn't blow for the foul on him and spoil the whole thing!

Seems to me that the really important thing is not that we all enjoyed it, but that the players must have got a great buzz out of being a team bossing a game pretty well from start to finish, and will want to repeat it whenever possible.

Actually I’ve always rated his first goal as highly. Hit with the outside of his left (wrong) foot, as the ball was fired across him and still managing to place it between the keeper and the near post. Yes it was. He got in front of the defender and steered it in from a narrow angle. I always think though that forwards are taught to get in front of the defender and that’s what he did. I always go with the second goal because the ball coming over his shoulder, it was 30/35 yards out, narrow angle, it was such a sweet contact and so well directed. A superb brace. UTG!
