I think Sunderland did it too late in the day.

now dont get me wrong- this is me just adding 2 and 2 together possibly making 5 but let me put a theory to you.
Suppose a diminutive player turned up on saturday to play and suddenly felt unwell. He is in the dressing room and mixing with all of the other players - trained with them friday - his temperature is taken and he has a fever. The games goes ahead but he is out of the team at say 1.30 and sent home.
A couple of days later it is confirmed that said midfield player had covid and he was training with everyone on friday, maybe even in the changing room before the match and part of the build up- he has been in contact with the rest of the first team. On monday - maybe others show early symptoms .Surely they would all have to isolate.
This is all guesswork on my part.

This may have something to do with it: SECTION 5 - FIXTURES 24 Requirement to Play Full Strength Sides in League Matches 24.1 Each Club shall play its full strength in all Matches played under the auspices of The League unless some satisfactory reason is given. In the event of the explanation not being deemed satisfactory the Board shall refer the matter to a Disciplinary Commission which has the power to impose such penalties as it shall think fit. Guidance From the fourth Thursday in March, any team sheet for a League game should include at least 10 outfield players who featured on the team sheet for the League game before. So it may be down to how many "1st team players" tested positive and how many are isolating. Thanks gasman, good to know the exact rule. From the last bit I’m presuming that it’s not Oztumer as he couldn’t play anyway. Must be two others. Best not to speculate who it is because no one knows. Best wishes to those who have it, I hope it’s mild and a good recovery is made. UTG!

They should be investigated not us for putting their and the oppositions players at risk. :Tossers:

I think Sunderland did it too late in the day. They hadn't actually had a positive result. A player felt unwell, had a test yesterday (15th Dec, results 24-36hrs later), as a precaution 6/7 others isolated. Sunderland CHOSE to play the game, as they realised that they could be fined or have a points deduction, as they didn't have a leg to stand on, such are the current regs/guidelines. That isn't to say the regs/guidelines couldn't be better, but they are what they are and Sunderland had to play. Rovers had a positive test(s) and therefore most players had to isolate - the responsible and correct course of action.

Got to say I’m gutted with this latest situation as I’m sure we all are. I’ve missed standing on the Thatchers end with the atmosphere the friends and the escapism that’s connected to getting out there and supporting our club so much but having I follow and being able to watch every single match since the season started has made it bareable just about but the game getting postponed last night and now no game Saturday it just feels so flat and depressing.
Obviously the games are postponed not cancelled so all being well we still get those games , another season written off before it’s end doesn’t bare thinking about.
At the end of the day it’s football and it’s not a matter of life or death - But Covid is and these games are being postponed for the right reasons, keep safe and sensible over Christmas everybody and who knows by August next year we might be kicking off the 21/22 season in front of our usual big bumper first game crowd. UTG.

We must have had a positive test or 2 in the first team squad which had come into contact with other members reported before travelling to Charlton but after Saturdays fixture. I would imagine that result was given to the player either late on Monday night or early Tuesday morning for the game to be called off when it was.

The new Charlton owner was on Talksport Tuesday morning. As Jim White broke the news the owner said “yes 2 Bristol players have tested positive”.

It’s all guess work isn’t it and it’s not really our job to know the ins and outs of everything but it does appear that our club has gone the right way about things. Hopefully we can kick off where we left off in our next match , whenever that will be because we were just stating to look like a decent side for the first time this bloody year. And it has been a long year.

If you purchased an ifollow pass for the Charlton game will it be valid for the rearranged fixture?

Your so say diminutive player was unavailable for the Orient match in the week before the Plymouth game. Our Manager confirmed that before the weeknight game. So that's your theory gone out the window and whoever brought the virus into the club is neither here or there. Unfortunately it's just a fact of life at the moment and should remain confidential to avoid speculation and false rumour aimed at individuals.
