Looks like his Black & White striped pyjamas are going in the bin. Sounds fishy to me

Surely there’s a loan contract between the clubs. One hopes we will enforce that, we don't want that abject failure back. Pretty sure it was always only until January anyway, it looks highly likely that he'll return next month and I doubt any other club will take him now. I see. That’s very unfortunate.

At least he resigned and didn’t hang on for a payoff ! Very rare nowadays !! Yeah in some ways admirable but doesn’t Holloway have a habit of resigning when the going gets tough h? I may have got this wrong but he’s always struck me as being the sort of manager who jumps to avoid relegations on his CV. I agree with previous posters though that he is probably finished as a manager now. I also swore blind that Coughlan would struggle to get a manager’s job again but actually looking at Grimsby he could potentially be a good fit for them. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if he is at least a contender. Yes, I’m afraid he has previous. He’s not really very loyal, as he proved as a player. I get that he wanted to improve as a player, fair enough. In that case don’t beat your chest and kiss the badge then bugger off when a better offer comes along.

He has resigned not just because of the results but also the chairman has sold his shares in the club and there is going to be a takeover. There ia a lot of politics going on up there. Apparently Holloway has been accused of bad mouthing people at the club, but the club secretary has said this isn't so and he is prepared to resign over it. A lot going on there. I'm more worried that there might be a break clause in the Bennett loan deal and he turns up at the Quarters in January. Just got that nasty worried feeling about this.

That’s a point and you never know, this time next year he could be a gas legend with us begging him to sign a new long term contract!

Not sure why he didn't just stick to being a TV pundit as he seems to have gone past his sell by date as far as management is concerned.

The Holloway years, were the best i have seen at the Rovers.. I was brought to Twerton in 1990.. (home to Luton, stood on the Bristol end?? Is that what it was called?) it felt huge as a 5 year old, with the fence separating the fans from one another.. I dont really remember those games, but i remember the players... Holloway & co... who i would hear everyone talking about around me. Fast forward a few years and Ollie would become manager, playing the best football i have seen at Rovers.. some great memories!! Hayles vs Brentford .. Cureton.. the lob/volley vs ?... Browning passing to the goal after a “fake” whistle!! Truly great memories .

Hayles vs Brentford .. Cureton.. the lob/volley vs ?... Browning passing to the goal after a “fake” whistle!! Truly great memories . Holloway was a superb player for us in the Twerton years. He had been given a second chance by the club, because he had been very ill and was languishing in Brentford’s? reserves. GF as he tells everyone every chance he gets, paid £10k to bring him to us. He’s never mentioned how much he got back when Holloway went to QPR; but that’s another story. It was, however, the second time he went for a better offer. I’ve no problem with a player bettering himself, but spare me all the chest thumping and badge kissing in the days before you go! I agree that the football was a joy for a while when he came back as a manager. I do think he was a bit limited tactically, I don’t think he ever managed to beat a David Moyes team, Pulis usually got the better of him as did Pardew after that iconic win against Reading. He had his best players sold from under him when that team broke up, and he was unable to replicate his success. His leaving is a topic for discussion. He says in his book he was sacked, Geoff Dunford says Holloway asked to be sacked. I know who I believe, and the speed at which he went to QPR as manager tells its own story. I remember when at Blackpool, an ex-pro, it may have been Hansen, said that in the second half of their Prem League season Blackpool who hardly get any points, because they had a very one dimensional style, and other managers would have worked them out. He was right, and they were duly relegated. Looking at the GTFC forum, the fans are furious with Holloway, calling him a coward, chancer and bottler. They suspect he bought into the club because he knew they were about to be bought out , and saw an opportunity to make himself some money. They have referenced Milwall and QPR forums, and they both have less than favourable opinions of him. It’s fair to say he’s hated by Milwall. I don’t suppose Plymouth or Leicester fans are that keen either. No doubt he will go back on the TV football shows as a pundit, and we Bristolians will have to squirm with embarrassment at his ‘professional’ Bristolian accent, his childish humour and sound bites, and hope the rest of the country don’t think we all talk like land-locked pirates.

Holloway is all about motivation. He is in his element when it comes to an arm around the shoulder and a word in the ear. I can imagine as a player he will have you believing in yourself. Tactics? Nah.

Mmmm, Ollie seems to be a bit of a marmite character does he not?. The thing is he is Human and being human, like the rest of us, he ha flaws, but why focus on them ?There is no doubt that whatever your views on his career his times with us as player and manager were brilliant and unforgettable. He was also a player in the QPR side that was in the old first division and more than held his own and as far as i know there fans of that era and when he was there manager under severe financial restrictions in tier 3 held him in very high regard. His time at Blackpool gave them the ride of there lives and they lit up the Prem with there swashbuckling style and they went down fighting even to the last game at Old Trafford. He is the first to admit that his decision to leave Plymouth was one not to be proud of but no doubt we all have those regrets on the cv of our lives, but as with every one else i come across i try to focus on there strengths and good points as i am well aware of my own flaws. As for 'the land locked pirate accents' well we do all talk like that don't us! Now i be gettin a bollickin fur bein on yer on Christmas day, Merry Christmas to ee all , my luvvers!

I think we should ask whatever TV show he’s on to put a disclaimer at the start telling the viewers he’s actually from Cadbury Heath which is in South Gloucestershire, so he’s not actually Bristolian!
