Let's be honest JVS is not a league goalie either, god knows who decided to bring him over from Holland and offer him a 2 year contract. I can't understand why a goalie can't learn how to consistently kick the ball upfield, that surely can't be that difficult? Hi Topper.... Agree with your views....unfortunately JVS can't kick.... I see JVS is getting a real hounding after his mistake against MK Dons... we need to remember he’s young in goalkeeping terms and was he not MoM recently? He’s no Jaakkola but he’s no where near as bad as a lot of you are making out... he actually pulled off some decent saves against the Dons too... for me he will suffice as a No 2....
Personally the squad is pretty decent, it’s just lacking a striker to complement Hanlan... Ayunga again is one for the future and Nicholson is an outstanding player but is not an out and out striker..... he’s better being given a free rein....
I’d get a striker in and loan out some fringe players...

As a goalkeeper, errors are greatly exposed....and his overall game may be OK (inconsistency is an issue)....but every time he goes to kick, either from the hand or under little pressure, he lacks, in my view, the power and accuracy that a keeper at this level needs... Personally, whilst I don't doubt his desire, dedication and application, I lack the confidence that when he plays, he won't continue with the same issue.... UTG J

The only save he made was at his near post, a save that every goal keeper should comfortably make. No point complaining though at the moment he’s the best we’ve got.

With JML leaving I guess that opens up one spot in the squad. So can we actually bring in anyone else unless we are going to start unregistering players in January? Our best hope is to get a couple of players out on loan to free up some more squad space.

Would be good to see a new keeper and a striker for me
Going to be one hell of a fixture pile up IF the season finishes so it well may be that those with the deepest squads survive relegation
That is our only aim this season
The summer will see the big changes
On reflection we have made some poor signings in defence. I don’t rate Harries, Baldwin or Ehmer. They may come good but as it stands we are no stronger there than if we’d kept Mayonnaise and Millwall.
Midfield is un balanced and Tis will have to sort through those good enough and those with potential. I like Hargreaves and Mehew has a chance, Barrett looks poor and Liddle is still young
We may struggle to keep Nicholson, Ozzie I’d sign if possible and McCormick I’d try and sign along with an experienced striker
Lots of work for our new man in charge but I don’t see the work starting this Jan. His main task is to get them fired up with the carrot of impressing for next season!

kampuchheagas; Its all personal choice and I think you are being harsh on some. Personally I rate Ehmer and Baldwin as decent players at this standard and I would rate them above Kilgour and Harries. No matter how good or poor the left backs are the fact is you can't have four left backs in your squad! Can't really say I am over impressed with any of them but Koiki has potential as does Tutonda though both possibly as wide players rather than full backs so really would have to make a choice between the two as which was best..Personally I feel Barrett looks like there is a player in there rather than Hargreaves who I feel is Conference standard at best as is Kelly so would try to release both. Mehew I would keep on loan for the rest of this season and the same with Tomlinson as haven't seen enough to suggest they are good enough yet. We have Little, Hare and I would be looking to release both at the season end for different reasons. In midfield I would try to loan Liddle out and sign Oztumer and if possible McCormick.keep Grant,Westbrooke and try to extend Nicholsons contract NOW. Upson I would keep until the end of the season then release and the same with Rodman.I would keep the three strikers we have but try to get two more in. I see far more potential in most of the signings than you have given credit for but you are;like everyone else; entitled to your opinion.

Good assessment (in my view of the squad). I think I'd want to keep tutonda and Koiki, so perhaps loan the former out. I would definitely not get rid of either of Liddle as there could be serious potential and we have been burnt before by letting players go too soon. The difficulty with the gk situation is that whoever comes in knows they'll be second fiddle as soon as jaakkola is fit which may put some off. Now Ayunga is fit, I'd like to see more of him asap

I feel for PT here, he's trying to make assessments on some players without really seeing them play, the lack of reserve matches is understandable in the circumstances but does nothing to help either PT or those trying to impress. The young 1st year pros have barely played so budget permitting I'd keep them all, I'd rather give them a year too long than lose potentially a future regular. We all know we have an unbalanced squad but I really cant see major changes in Jan, we have a space in the squad already with JML going back and would assume this will be taken up with another striker. We obviously don't need 4 left backs so Kelly would seem the most obvious to move on, replaced by either a keeper if Jaakkola is going to be out for a while and the manager feels JVS isnt ready or if the post report is correct a right back. The summer will be where PT can really make the squad his own, players out of contract so there should be scope to make changes.

BG signed too many left backs and midfielders meaning even if they were exceptional . They won't get a game.
The decision making is straight-forward. We off load at least 1 left back and 2 midfielders in order to get in 1 striker and a goalie / striker.
The problem we have is how quick a team will want to pay wages if waiting means paying us less wages. Unless we do have money via our cup run which can be approved by EFL .
The hard facts are relegation cost a side £1.2 Million a few years ago. So if do have extra money ( no one knows either way ). Then I would recommend we spent it on a striker quicky like next week..

I think these positions will be filled by loan signings Not convinced we need a right back save the money and bring in a quality proven goal scorer (who will likely be a high earner - Chad Evans anyone) . For Saturday if JA is fit play him alongside BH up front - we need to see more threat in and around the opponents penalty area, with the Turkish Messi and SN also on the pitch

Little must be almost fit and Rodman played on Saturday, if we sign another right back we'll have then have 3, assuming Hare's not sent out on loan, plus Ehmer has back up, meanwhile up front we'll still only have 4 strikers, once Daly's fit, covering two positions.

If NO teams come in to take any loans and IF our budget is full ( unconfirmed ). The only option would be to use our 'additional income' to pay off a players wages and reduce our squad size . Surely that is legal and allows scope .
So if a player only as 4_5 months left . we could strike a deal and he takes his share and the option to find another club. This would be plan B or C.

Those two don't fit the profile of a striker with league one experience.
