I have nothing against footballers or managers earning a secondary crust by doing some journalism or punditry but this article in the Mail today has annoyed me and a few others. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9155507/Pep-Guardiola-saying-Manchester-City-playing-better-running-makes-perfect-sense.htmlAbove is an article about an in-depth review of Man C and how they are playing/adapting their game as they go into the season. A fascinating read you might say. However, we are constantly hearing from Tis how “he’s only been here X amount of weeks/games” “he doesn’t know his players well enough yet” “he’s not aware fully of what Rodman can do” as an example of his excuses for things so far. Question, why is Tisdale involving himself in such paper talk when we currently sit just above the relegation zone and he clearly has a bundle of homework to do on Bristol Rovers? Paul Tisdale brands himself of a student of the game, with an meticulous approach and a keen eye for facts figures and numbers so why isn’t he studying us in the same way as Man C so he has an idea of his best formation, a plan b and c, to know that Upson and Grant defo can’t play together, that Rodman can be very useful at the moment? The list goes on. I would suggest Tis stops all the extra curricular stuff he’s doing at the moment and make Bristol Rovers his project and get us ticking and winning games regardless of who is available for selection.

Its not unusual for people who work in the business to work in media though....
Would we prefer a media written and commentated on by people who have never been near professional football....
Its just the nature of it I would say....

Agree. He can't watch Rodman at 8pm on a Saturday night. but he can write an article. I would rather he is watching football than "come dancing"

So how do you know he's not studying every aspect of our game play, or are you just accepting what he tells the press is now gospel?
This reads to me an article which took about an hour to write, or even less to dictate, are you suggesting Tisdale should spend 18 hours a day solely working on his Rovers job? Perhaps studying the way Premiership clubs play might make him a better Rovers manager.

Just an interview isn’t it? Surely as a student of the game your best lectures will come from the Maestros? Bit of a non issue this for me. I highly recommend the “what’s for dinner” thread for those with nothing better to do.

Shock Horror- Football Manager has a newspaper column, can’t say I blame them. Is this a weekly column or a daily one? Either way I would be amazed if that article took more than an hour of his time. If he takes an hour out of everyday to do something for himself, then good on him. I don’t think this impacts one jot on his commitment or his ability to manage Bristol Rovers. Total nitpicking.

Tisdale is allowed to have other interests in his life other than his job, it’s no different to us using Gaschat as well as having jobs in the real world.
I severely doubt that writing a few articles for the Daily Mail is going to take so much of Tisdale’s time that he’s not going to get a chance to see Rodman on the training ground or any other responsibilities managers are expected to perform.
If it helps him with his media skills, scouting or tactical knowledge, that’s just a bonus for us. Having our manager write in a national newspaper is also good publicity for the football club.

I read the article this morning, thought it was a good read. Tisdale is a keen student of the game and obviously doesn't lock himself away in a Div 1 bubble. Good luck to him, its good to read the opinion and interpretation of a lower league manager regarding the Gods of the English professional game, anyway who knows if he got paid for it, it's nothing to do with us.

Regardless of how long Tiss has been here , which is not long, Covid restrictions have limited the amount of time he has been able to see all the players in action and certainly doing an article for a national newspaper would not have impacted on that time, does not bother me and surprised it bothers anyone else.

Does he actually say he's been watching Man C or is it primarily based on a statement by Pep and players running less?

Time to go, what an embarrassment. How can we have a manager that watches other football matches and then has the audacity to write a 587 word article?! What a pathetic thread.

Seems perfectly reasonable for him to do this in his spare time, why not?
1981, it's very clear that you still have reservations about Tisdale as you were very much against his appointment. I really respect you as a poster, however this seems to me to be just nit-picking because you don't like him, and I think you're better than that.
