When he said about being a hard worker and giving it 100% I couldn’t help thinking we are about to receive the height of scouser honest graft - 2 days work, 2 sickies and a strike.

Players enjoyed training, and feeling positive about JB - can only be a good thing surely? Early days, of course, but seems like he's got off on the right foot with the people who matter. As my mate GHB said to me tonight, it's obvious from the way he talks that he has played the game at the highest level and naturally that must come across to the players on the training field. Hopefully he can instill much needed confidence into the lads and we start seeing that on the field before too long.

It's strange really and it's not just on here it's society ... which has become even more spiteful / selfish / insular whilst CoVid has run riot.
Those moaning about JBs appointment (and they are entitled to their opinion absolutely) those saying they wont go to the ground whilst he is in charge (entitled to that as well), those saying they wont put any more money into the club (absolutely their right to keep their cash ) ... Will be last to say 'Well Done' when he keeps us up, but they will expect to be first in the queue for tickets for the big games / events next season.
We have no say in how this Club is run and rightly so, but we must get behind the new man and we will have done our part in ensuring we stay up.

Last summer when holidays were still permitted i was at the airport choosing a book, settled on a sports book that had won autobiography of the year. It was called No Nonsense by Joey Barton. Not sure if this was a premonition but it was a good read and offered some insight into the world he was brought up in and some of the challenges he faced.
Not sure if he will be successful but from what I read he will be determined and driven to be successful. He is a divisive choice but so would have been Holloway my preferred choice.
He will I believe get a lift from the players in the short term and move us up the table. After that who knows but I will be wanting him to succeed and be one of our most successful managers. Almost 50 years of cheering on the gas I am passed caring how success is delivered!

Length of Contract:
Till 2023.
Like ANY contract if the worst comes to the worst after the upcoming trial then his contract could be till 2050 and it wouldn’t matter. Termination for gross misconduct would void it.
Moving to the area:
JB yes Family No. He did move with family up to Glasgow for the Rangers transfer but now his children are older and settled in school in Liverpool. Relocation wasn’t an issue while at Fleetwood, it’s an hour drive from his home.

There's no doubt he knows what he's talking about. He's self-educated, articulate, passionate and motivated. He's socially aware and wants to help others less fortunate than himself. He has a lot of experience and no doubt lots of contacts. He's young, ambitious, and keen to make a name for himself and a success of things here.
Fantastic! All of it.
But I knew all that before.
The big question is, when the red mist descends, can he control himself? That's the main worry for me and I'm guessing lots of others. I have my doubts. He's 38, not 18.
But welcome on board JB and good luck. 🤞

Very impressive 1st interview, he comes across as a very knowledgeable and driven young manager who has a real passion to do well. Obviously some have reservations which is entirely understandable but first impression for me was very positive. Hopefully we can put all the in fighting too one side now and give him our full support. Welcome to the gas Joey

Honestly, the last 2 managers I've listened to interviews and just haven't liked at all. Garner & Tisdale I listened to their first ones and it just didn't connect with me from the beginning.
That Barton interview was absolutely phenomenal though. I could listen to him all day, honestly. I was surprised how well he came across if I'm honest, it's hard to imagine he's the same Barton with all the controversy.
So much of what he said really rung true to what I believe. A quick example, the fixture list of 46 games vs 38 in the prem, been saying this for years.
I've wanted Barton from the beginning, he's been my 1st realistic choice. But the last 24 hours, I did start to get a bit nervous about the divisiveness in the fanbase and even started to doubt whether I really would be happy with him. But after listening to that, I can't explain enough how excited I am for the rest of the season.
In pure footballing terms (and ignoring the legal cases) I genuinely feel connected to Rovers again, which I haven't done since the DC/GC era - a manager who just seems to get us. It is deeply disappointing that some of the fanbase won't be coming until he's gone, I just hope that he'll be a success and we can all unite again and move onwards and upwards.
Bring on Wigan.

Good interview and I am warming to the idea of him as our manager. Fingers crossed he can get his ideas across to the players and get some results!
I guess although there's only 38 games in the Premier League, the top 7 or so are in European competitions, and top level teams on the whole will get further in the FA and League Cups. So that probably evens things up a bit?

Just some balance for any naysayers and doubters.
Rovers could have been posting an interview with this man today. 🤣
