Having read through a lot of the posts on this thread, it's unfortunate to see Rovers fans so divided over a managerial appointment - however, I do completely understand both points of view. I haven't yet noticed anyone taking an objective look at Barton, which might be an interesting thing to do.

Based purely on the stats, over the course of his career, Barton appears to have a better managerial record than 3 out of the 4 previous Bristol Rovers managers. He falls short to only Darrell Clarke, who has a superior win percentage and a lower loss percentage. One could argue that, again, statistically speaking, this is our best managerial appointment since Darrell Clarke - but only time will tell.
