Walks into a room of students without glasses on, then puts them on and gives an explanation of why he needs to wear them.... Doesn't need glasses for training sessions, but needs them for interviews.... Short sightedness developes mostly before your 20 and if later (which is rare) usually in people who work indoors.... If he's long sighted he wouldn't need reading glasses for interviews.... Shortsightedness develops in all us football fans very early! He doesn’t really come across as fashionista to me ( being a woman , I pick up on these things ) 😃 and I’m pretty sure they are prescribed lenses but hey ho , who really cares , long as he puts some energy and passion back into this club I for 1 will be more than happy ! When did us and City both go for such high profile appointments?! I feel like we usually both go for yes men but these 2 certainly aren't that. A changing of the times..?

It looks like the press in Hull are already stirring things up! “Joey Barton set to reignite Hull City rivalry after taking Bristol Rovers job”. The ex-Newcastle and Everton midfielder is back in management following his departure from City's League One rivals Fleetwood at the start of 2021. Former England international Joey Barton has been appointed Bristol Rovers boss, and he won’t have long to wait before renewing his rivalry with Hull City. Barton was boss at Fleetwood Town earlier in the season when he claimed there was bad blood between the side teams following an incident when the pair met at Highbury - City lost 4-1 which saw an FA investigation followed before Grant McCann's side dumped the Cod Army out of the FA Cup. He’ll be back at the KCOM Stadium on March 6 when he brings struggling Rovers to east Yorkshire, undoubtedly looking for revenge on City. I think that's a perfect example of how the press will use anything Barton related as click-bait, they've got 3 other games before they play us.

I've now watched the interview with JB several times, and thoroughly enjoyed it, which didn't surprise me at all, as I've known from listening to him on the radio and TV etc, that he's an intelligent articulate guy. He speaks with a lot of sense, is clearly down to earth, and I think he buys into us Gasheads from having grown up an Everton fan in the shadow of their more illustrious red neighbours. He wants to be the man to get this club going, and have us loud and proud in our city. That excites me and I really respected those comments in his interview. It also looks like he's given the staff and players reason to smile and that could be just what we need to get us out of trouble this season. I say this with a tinge of skepticism, as I enjoyed Tisdales interviews as well, plus, as Joey said himself it is only natural to have skepticism given his track record. However I genuinely hope that he is a success, and I'd be proud to see him put his darker side behind him as he leads the Gas. Let's all hope that he can do it and make us proud. Excellent post jomo - I too , loved the comment about wanting to see gasheads walking round the city with their chests pumped out in the quarters , made me genuinely smile , love his energy and passion . Who knows how it will pan out . But , I’m hopeful and energised, I haven’t felt like that for a long time regarding rovers - so - onwards and upwards gas !!! Utg RTID .

I was thinking the same thing last night, both clubs have stepped out of their comfort zones with these appointments, which will probably raise the profile of Bristol on the football map.

Gerry Francis and Joe Jordan? Yeah probably. I would say us appointing Martin Dobson after Gerry Francis was pretty high profile at the time as well. Martin Dobson played at the top level, was a record British transfer when he went from Burnley to Everton, and got 5 England Caps. Let's hope Joey lasts longer than 12 games 🙂

Just as a matter of interest, does anyone recognise where this ‘unveiling clip’ was filmed - it wasn’t at The Quarters for some reason. My guess it’s at the GFA (Gloucester FA) has been used for classroom sessions whilst the out building is being built at the quarters Does anyone know if all that footage in the videos released by the club of Joey and co is from our new training ground the Quarters or is some of it from elsewhere? I'm talking about the bit where he drives in to the car park and where the small stand in the background when he is stood on a training pitch? I ask as it seems like old buildings and just wondered as it didn't look like the Quarters.

Ahhh...that makes sense as the building he walks into looks old,as does the inside of it.I guess that's where the pre interviews are done because of the blue wall tho they sit behind. I could tell the training with the players was at the Quarters tho. Thanks for clearing that up.👍

Cheers for that pal, did my coaching badge & referee course there many many moons ago. 👍

Well I think this is a first for a Gas manager... JB is replying to fans on twitter: According to the bio OTR is a #mentalhealth social movement by and for young people aged 11-25 in Bristol + South Glos. Good publicity for them and if his influence can help just one extra person that can only be a good thing. Well done Joey.

Fair play to him, he does seem to be doing lots of 1:1 replies to fans and organisations. Not something you often see in football. UTG!
