With most other threads going off on a tangent to discuss the board or previous managers I thought I'd pop up a simple poll to see who the most popular candidate is. My preference and unlikely according to the bookies is Sol Campbell he his success at Macclesfield shows he can come in and get the best out of what he's got.
I got the list from a betting website but mods please feel free to add anyone that gets mentioned...

Paul Cook. But we’ve got no chance until the summer and even then a slim chance.

Can we add another title to the list "Anyone BUT Joey Barton"

Barton for me.
I’ve always disliked him but I think he would give us the best shot at keeping us in League One.
I’ve got a feeling it will be Keith Curle though, who will take us down in my opinion.

I think I'd favour an internal appointment until the end of the season, then appoint a new manager in the summer. I just don't feel confident about any of those other names for a variety of reasons. Some are not realistic, some are not experienced and some would be too divisive, which is not what we need right now.

Keith Curle would represent pretty much the antithesis of our new strategy wouldn't he? I can't see it being him, but if it is, I'd be completely mystified at the board's decision making.

I voted for Crowley. Joey B would be interesting. But wouldn’t be surprised if it is Keith Curle.

Surprised how many have voted for Barton although I do think he would keep us up. I'd like Michael Duff.

Cowley would be my first choice.
Plenty still to prove and young and hungry.
Plays good football and although struggled in the championship maybe wasn’t given long enough (sound familiar?)
I’d love cook but he won’t come here. Waiting for the championship which he will get.
After that it’s a bit more of a gamble. I’ve said I wouldn’t be against Barton but once things started to go badly our fan base would quickly be divided on him and that is the biggest issue perhaps with him.
I also wouldn’t mind Harris.
For me HAS to be experience over potential. Some strong words from a strong character is what these players need. Going to be a lot more tricky to attract decent names in LG 2.

Barton would not accept any limp dick performances. Players would be Sh1t scared to fart out of tune. He’s a winner, played at the highest level, probably got some good contacts. Bit of time in the big house pfftt it’s not unusual for someone like me who grew uo on a council estate. Makes you stronger.

Only name im given confidence from a footballing front that we’d escape relegation is Barton. But he’s a dickhead.
I think Duff would be a sensible appointment but don’t see why he’d come here right now.
Giving it to someone internally is a decent shout so long as it isn’t Widdrington.
Why would we hire Keith Curle when’s he’s just been sacked from exactly the same position we’ve made vacant?

Right now our main aim has to be avoiding the drop.
We need somebody to come in and have an immediate impact.
I think Barton is the most likely to be able to turn things around quickly so I voted for him.
He knows L1 very well and has a good recent record managing at this level.

None of those names really inspire me (exception DC but I’m ruling him out as a) I don’t think he’d come back - timing is all wrong and b) legend that he is I don’t think he’s the right appointment ‘at this time’)
Whilst Joey has proven his capabilities as a coach and manager, he’s still got the pending court case and I don’t think Wael would want associations with that ......
For me I’ve gone Neil Harris as his Millwall teams (and Cardiff) were attacking based and he has a good reputation and wealth of experience. I don’t think he’d come but he’s the best in my eyes on that list for what we need now and would also be a medium term appointment.
Quite a few on that list just don’t meet the style of football brief or experience or reputation needs we have and personally I’d prefer us making a short term appointment to the end of the season and then do our process now with a view of appointing the right long term appointment in the summer. I’d fancy a Hargreaves/Mansell duo until the end of the season.....

If you want to stay up It’s got to be Joey B with Liam Gallagher as Assistant.
