I’m glad he says he’s going to watch it again. He seemed a bit too cheerful for my liking!

Being positive is essential in our current position bottom four and truly appalling home record. L bet those players are relieved there are no fans at the Mem to get on their backs for such dreadful defending.

He thinks Leahy can play as a Centre Half? WTF Your taking him out of context. He was talking about when we are attacking and the likes of Kilgour going forward and the likes of Leahy dropping into the centre half position to cover the counter attack. He was clearly not talking about him starting and playing an entire game ar centre half.

Good interview, I agreed with everything he said about our weaknesses, and I really hope he's right about Hanlan.

The press conference was impressive.
Joey Barton continually surprises people when he speaks. But he is nobody's fool. He's confident in his ability and seems assured that he can save us from relegation.
I'm not so confident. He's got a track record in this division as a manager and has played the game at the highest level. However, he may be overestimating the abilities of the current squad. We can argue about the merits of individual players but most of them are underperforming on a massive scale. Some players with recognised L1 pedigree are operating at Conference level. Why?
We don't score goals (1 goal in the last 2 games despite 40 shots ---BBC stats) and let them in for fun. That's the hallmark of a relegation team. Morale must be rock bottom.
If anybody at this level can save us he can. However, I'm getting increasingly resigned to relegation and looking forward to Joey remodelling the squad for next season whatever division we are playing in. I want to see us playing a traditional Rovers style of aggressive football backed by a roaring crowd. Let's revert to Garnerball when we make the Premiership.
One final thought: just as well there are no fans at the Mem to watch this lot. The atmosphere would have been really toxic.

If we were in the position we are and there were fans, there would definitely have been some horrible weeks and atmosphere's at The Mem, but if fans had been there from the start of the season, could we have helped the team to not be in this position. It's hard to quantify how 7,000 might just have fired up some players and got the blood pumping

Got to admit, im loving the way hes spoken so far and look forward to seeing if he can resolve the issues he has quickly identified.
Also obvious hes been doing his background research as for example how many goals have come from set plays
I do believe he will prove to be a great appointment

I was on the ‘wrong side of a few sherberts’ after last night but was impressed with Joey’s enthusiasm and optimism - he’s been dealt a crappy hand and I wish I shared his optimism, but sadly imo the chickens are coming home to roost. I hope he sticks with the club and is part of of the team rebuilding process for next season and is given total responsibility for identifying the players he needs and wants at the club. A sad state of affairs and hopefully the one person left at the club who helped to orchestrate this mess is held totally responsible - imo he is now a luxury we can no longer afford.

I hope he can turn Hanlan into the striker he believes he can be because I think that's the key. We should have learnt by now that if you sell your twenty goals a season player you will struggle, but we keep on doing it. I don't buy the argument that you can't keep them if they don't want to be here, because whether they like it or not they still need to score goals to attract a buyer.
