I suppose next time, we should not accept any applications, because we shouldn't appoint someone who shows an interest in the position? How about seeing what interest you get first and weigh up your options Yes, I agree, that would be the correct way to operate. Opening an appointment process would have been the right thing to do, normally. Unfortunately the position we are in, near the bottom of the table, in a relegation fight with games coming along twice a week has led to a near panic-like atmosphere at boardroom level. Our league position has led to a very speedy decision being made over our new manager, nothing else. It was all about results. Little stuff about “vision”, “dna” or any of that sort of stuff this time, it’s all about results. This season is very different than recent seasons in League 1. Last season, Bury was gone before it started, Bolton in the same position more or less, then Southend couldn’t buy a win so by Christmas 3 teams were already down leaving poor Tranmere to suffer the fate. Today Northampton were in 18th after going ahead at Swindon but finish up bottom, it’s so close. We will likely be in the fight up until the last few matches and that made the board act quickly imo. Now we might have made the right appointment or we may live to regret it but this season has shown that decisions being made by our board do not encourage the fans to have the greatest confidence in some footballing decisions being made. UTG!

I can almost see Barton, with his connections in the game, being the tail that wags the dog.
If he delivers survival in this division, he'll probably be bending Wael's ear to appoint his own CEO and DOF!

Tisdale looks a lazy appointment, although I doubt anyone would thought he'd turn out as bad as he did, what's odd is the two players he brought in, Day and Williams, are now looking two good signings as would like t seems have been Stockley, although Charlton's play off push seems to have come off the rails since he joined them. JB must seem like a breath of fresh air after the last two managers, but no doubt the BG fan club won't see it that way. Yes, that BG fan club of about 3!

He obviously impressed in said interview and got the job, we could not afford a long drawn out process.

Might be ok ,bit of a gamble . Stevenage obviously like him to bring him back after him going to Newport. Would be a big step up for him. Not sure Starnes has done anything in his tenure to warrant staying. Since he came in July 2018 we are on our 5th manager, in a worse league position, no trophies and a disgruntled fan base. Firstly he spent the first year sorting the out of control mess that Hamer had gotten us into. Our spending was out of control, the clubs playing budget the highest it had ever been for a net return of a relegation fight in L1 by the time DC had left with poor players on long contracts. MS was instrumental in GC being appointed which was a success and until this season we were on an upward trajectory from where DC had left us. Unfortunately the appointment of Garner and Tisdale has set us back but you trying to pin the blame on one individual is not only unfair but without foundation.
